I have a Marshall JVM410H which has an output for the pre-amp, and an input for the power amp. I tried to connect the Kemper's Monitor Out jack to the JVM410H's power amp input. I can hear the signal, but it's very quiet. I turned up the volume of the Monitor Out, but it was still very low. Any ideas why that might be?
Thanks!

A few thing spring to mind.
Check what signal you have assigned to the Monitor Out. It is possible to just send the direct analog guitar signal for example. Make sure you are sendng somethng like Mastor Mono to the Monitor out.
Sounds too obvious but check he cable just in case.
Some amps break the signal path for the loop in such a way that you can’t use the retun unless there is something connected to the send. I don’t know how the Marshall works but try a dumm cable in the send just to rule it out.
Some amps have a switchable loop. This can either kill the signal going to th Send or coming to the Return. If the latter and the loop is turned off you wouldn’t expect to hear anything. Check the loop is turned on.
I’ve just checked the Marshall website and I see that the JVM has a series/parallel option with a mix control. Make sure the mix is set to 100%.

Hi Alan, thanks for your suggestions!
- It is the Master Mono signal going out to the Monitor out = OK
- the cable is OK, I tried it already = OK
- I will try a dummy cable in the send... = ?
- There is a bypass switch on the back of the JVM for the return; it is set to active = OK
- I will try again with the FX loop ON = ?
- The mix is set to 100% = OK

Try plugging a patch cable into the Marshall Send. It doesn't need to go anywhere but would trick the amp into thinking the loop is actually being used. It may be that the send needs to have a plug in it to break the signal path and allow the return to operate.

Plug the monitor out to JVM loop return and remember to turn off cab sim for monitor out.

No no, first of all, I'm using the FX loop send/return, secondly, that's not how it is described in the manual. There's another set of sockets for that: one that sends out the pre-amp of the Marshall, and one that accepts a line in to the Power Amp. Note that this works. The only problem is that the sound is too quiet. I will try the suggestions of Alain today.

I put a dummy in the Pre-Amp send. I made sure that the switch was active. I also turned the FX on, and off. The result is still the same: you can hear the Kemper, but not loud enough... Any other suggestions?

I’m afraid I’m not really familiar with the JVM410. I was a Boogie man all my days before getting the KPA.
I’ve just looked at the manual properly and as Thomas Piehl said the Loop Return Power amp In is specifically intended for what you are trying to do. The Master volumes come after the Power Amp In so affect the sognal. I notice that there are two different Master volume controls and these are assignable somehow. Could you have an issue with what the masters are assigned to? Hopefully someone who knows the JVM properly can chime in. If the Masters are assigned properly it sounds like you could have a problem with the JVM itself.

No, I tried adjusting them both and it had an effect on the volume, but not enough...
-
The strange thing is: with the Main Out, it works fine... It's just the monitor out that seems to be less loud...
-
OK. So that rules out the Marshall being the problem and means its time to focus on the KPA.
You confirmed previously that the Monitor Out is set to Master Mono but I cant remember if you confirmed if monitor out volume is fully up? I know it sounds stupid but you have to start with the most obvious andd work through logically. It is easy to accidentally unlike the any of the volumes from the master volume knob on the front of the amp.
Another option could be that you have assgned a volume pedal to the monitor out.

Hi Alain,
The monitor out volume was way up.
I will just use the main volume if I decide to go with this option.
Many thanks for your help.
