Mine just shipped. I should have it Tomorrow or Friday...I'm so excited

Who’s getting a stage ??
-
-
No, Ive had a power head and remote for quite a while and like using a real cab plus going foh.
However the Kabinet sounds interesting.
-
So my first question for the lucky folks who get their Stage is.....
How’s the new 7.0 browsing and is the acoustic sim in there (it was mentioned at Winter NAMM as ‘coming’ so I believe it’s supposed to be in 7.0)? If so, ‘clips please’
And, of course, any other good things you want to share that might also be in there
-
Not for me.... owning a rack version and foot controller. Attractive for a first time buyer, coming in less than rack & foot controller. If I were a first time buyer, I'd still go rack though. I'm an 80's rack man through & through! \m/ \m/

My Stage should be here any minute. I'm giddy with excitement waiting for the Fedex truck

Excited to hear your thoughts on what’s new, especially with the new OS. Enjoy ?

I got it a few hours ago. It will probably be tomorrow before I get to check it out

$3200 street price here in Australia. That's about $2222 USD.
Gonna stick with the Toaster.

$2245 CAD here, and I thought our dollars were somewhat equal.
Shipping?

The price at the Kemper Store for Australia is 1344.54 Euros including free shipping. This is 2158.54 Australian Dollars plus 5% import duty and 10% GST. So you should end up with roughly 2500 Australian Dollars total. That's about 1735 US Dollars or 1560 Euros. Did I miss something?
-
I can only imagine the difference is that you're talking about ordering direct-from-Kemper, whereas Stu's talking about buying it bricks-and-mortar Down Under, Martin.
"Everybody" knows that we've been ripped-off local-sales-wise down here for many decades, so it wouldn't surprise me if his quoted street price is in-the-ballpark.
-
Just order from the Kemper international store. They ship worldwide free.
-
Even if they "ship worldwide free", some countries has very intense custom or weird protectionist type fees that in some case are very hard to predict before the product actually arrives and get stuck at the custom. With that and the rate of change, I paid around twice the retail price for a toaster+remote+bag when I got it some 4/5 years ago. If I get a Stage, I will definitely wait until I tour in the EU/US to buy it!

We have the same thing in the UK with US products. A Mesa Boogie MkV head in the UK is £2759 ($3430) but n the US it is only $2549.
At least the Kemper operates on any voltage automatically so you can buy anywhere and br Ng it home as Jed suggested. With Mesa they fit a US transformer that can’t be converted to international voltages. So if you buy in the US you need to budget for replacing the transformer too. Now that’s protectionist!
-
Indeed, the USA often seems to adopt an insular attitude, where as Germany is a fine example of, "vorsprung durch technik".

1. If you live in New York City for example, you have to add 8.875% sales tax which results in an effective total price of US$2775. Online shops' prices in the US don't show the sales tax, only net price as opposed to shops in the UK (or Germany).
2. With shipping costs of say US$100 and the UK VAT at 20% we would end up with US$3179.
So yes, it's slightly more expensive but not by the huge margin you stated. Most of the difference comes down to the considerable VAT … and maybe some customs duty I didn't check for. It's not like Mesa Boogie charge/earn a lot more just because you're in the UK.
-
There's a few elements that hike prices up. The import duty for products from the USA imported to the UK, results in an exorbitant import tax by the UK government. I know that's not the USA's fault
Also as yer' man says,"

Yes, I forgot about the sales tax in the US. I've never understood that one. The price isn't actually the price but it's OK because we can all multiply by 1.08875 in our heads
-
I've never understood that one.
I'm sure nobody in the US understands it either because their sales tax system is crazy. It's not even a fixed rate per state. Counties can set individual local sales tax on top of the state sales tax. Ridiculous
-
When I got my first Kemper in 2013, I paid around 50 per cent of the price of the unit as customs duty and countervailing tax.
Still worked out cheaper than buying from a local dealer (though there were none at the time).
