Stage foot switch 2 not responding to presses

  • Thank you Tom & Thank you for your sympathy. Yes I did, the autoreply did not land in my junk folder and I have not heard back from support beyond the initial autoreply. I have been obsessively checking my email (both primary and junk folders) everyday since I logged the ticket on Wednesday evening.

Welcome and sorry you've got issues.

I've read that it usually takes them one day or so to produce the required documents for an exchange of you unit.

    Where are you based?

  • Thanks Ingolf, no worries, I have been an early adopter before and I understand that comes with some risk. From what I’ve read, Kemper excels at support, so I’m not really worried. I’m just sad that I will have to be without my beloved Kemper during the return/exchange process. I’m in St. Louis area in Missouri. And thanks for your reply! I see you are an active, well informed and helpful forum member so thanks for chiming in and sharing your experience. I definitely can’t limp along like this. Today I tested the looper... and with a non functioning switch 2, I can’t stop or delete a loop. Lol.

  • Got mine back today. So far all the switches are functioning! I don't think mine is at the latest firmware and the rig manager doesn't prompt me to update. Do I need to do something to get the rig manager to forget my old Stage?

  • Thanks for keeping us updated madbanjoman. I find this news encouraging. May I ask you how many days it took to hear back from support after you initially submitted your ticket? Not the auto reply but rather the response with return instructions.

Hi, I had a similar issue with the switches of my stage. I opened a ticket last Saturday and I received the Email with the documents for returning the broken unit on Wednesday. Before that I had impatiently called Kemper directly on Tuesday to make sure that everything was ok and they said everything was going its normal way. I sent the stage back the same day I received the according Email (Wednesday as I said) and it arrived at the factory on Friday morning. If they sent the new unit back to me the same day I hope I can play Kemper again on Monday or Tuesday. So you can say that from opening a ticket to receiving a new unit you should be patient for at least 10 days.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience Alienator, this information helps to level set my expectations. I have been following your 'effects switch III' issue thread also. Glad to hear you have received yours back fully functional. I opened my case last Wednesday afternoon around 5:30 CST. Got the autoreply and then so far nothing. I anticipate I will hear back today. In your 'effects switch III' thread I saw a support person request that you post you ticket number. I wonder if that would help in my case. Just thinking out loud. I have still been enjoying the hell out of this thing, even with the broken footswitch 2 ;^)

  • I also got mine back last Friday and so far all the switches have been functioning. The only trouble I have been having is with the interaction between the Stage and the Rig Manager. I have had it freeze once and when trying to edit a performance directly on Stage from the Rig Manager what I was seeing on my Mac did not match what I was seeing on my Kemper.

You are welcome. Ecxept I am still waiting 8o. Today I received a delivery message from UPS. My new stage is arriving tomorrow! I will report about the functionality in the other thread. As I said, about 10 days of waiting. Yes, you are right, it is so much fun to just plug in and play this crazy thing.

  • Well, after not hearing back from Kemper support for a few days after receiving the initial autoreply, I decided to call them on the phone yesterday morning. There was no answer so I left a voicemail. Someone called back a bit later but I didn't recognise the number so I didn't answer. Called back again and spoke to Matt. Matt was awesome! Basically, he said that they had one left from the last (3rd I think he said) shipment and that he would open it, test it and ship it out to me that very day and that I would have it tomorrow. He said they will overnight it to me and a return shipping label will be in the box and all I needed to do was pack up the old unit, slap the return ship label on it and drop it off at the UPS store. The new unit arrived this morning at 10:45 as promised. Wow! That is some fantastic support, I am duly impressed with Kemper and their commitment to their product. I did not have a chance to open it or test it as I have to work today, so I will be getting the new one set up and tested this evening. Thanks Kemper!! By the way, whatever you're paying Matt in support... It's not enough :)

  • Thanks for that madbanjoman! Got a chance to test it out and everything is functioning as advertised. Updated Rig Manager and Kemper OS to 7.0.4 tested out usb connectivity and I experienced no issues at all, everything is smooth and fluid. Big thanks to Matt at Kemper for the prompt service! And thanks too all of you that responded and advised, this is a great community!

I’m gonna go piss off the neighbors ????

  • so you're claiming that your Stage is bricked due to midway crash of the firmware update?

I find that really hard to believe :/

did it really not boot after a power-cycle?

when it really doesn't boot after a power cycle we would be super interested how that happened, and we want to investigate it further.

please verify, and don't let a possible unfundamented claim stand in the room.

  • I had the same problem with three footswitches. 2 on the stage and 1 on the passive dual switch. Same type of switch. If you push down on a good switch you’ll notice that as soon as it clicks the contact throws. On a failed switch, nothing happens at the click. You have to keep traveling down until it contacts. Intermittently. One bad fresh out of the box. I watched the other two get progressively worse. No more than 100 presses. Brand new.

It’s a shame. Bad switches, not a bad Kemper. Still the best there is. Though the QA testing didn’t catch this for whatever reason. When they get this confidently resolved, I’ll get another. In the meantime, I’m getting another head as home spare for the live rig.
