Looks like the amps are modeled and the studio setup (cab, mic, mic preamp, console) is profiled. At least this is what I understand....

I assume other companies show lots of interest in profiling because of the big andvantages it has over traditional modeling.
Now when the Kemper patent info is open for everyone to see,
how hard is it for other companies to try and copy the idea and implement some sort of play only profiles?
Say they use a Kemper first or create a similar unit without letting the users actually profile something themselves in the end product. I guess letting the users profile with a product would infringe on the Kemper profiling patent.
I'm no tech expert but I'm sure we have some knowledgeable users here that can chime in on this. -
Like it or not, the future of guitar sounds will be some sort of "Profiling" or a combination of "Tone Matching+Modeling" or just "Modeling", great results can be achieved with these, right now i'm really liking the combination of Modeling + Tone Matching, just upgraded an AXE 2 to version 6.0 yesterday for a buddy of mine(have to wait a few more days to upgrade mine due to gigs) and really love what it's doing now! the more players in the field the better for all of us in my opinion, no matter which brand you own.

I like all stuff, I was interested in the patent part here.
eq tone matching has been around for over ten years with plugins like ozone and can be used with modelers or amps.
It will give the same eq match results as the Axe II now have implemented.
Amp modeling can't analyze and copy amp rigs so it's not the future for those who use profiling.
Different things is always good, whatever the user prefer. -
There seem to be high interest in workarounds, regarding the Kemper profiling patent,
Fractal talk about profiling using the built in synth in the Axe II in this thread:

I'm curious now when we'll see profiling, tone matching of quality, available for something like an iPad Wonder if this Brainworx will work on portable devices like the iPad etc, with the millions of iPads available whoever does it first will probably make some serious $$.
