OK to start with I have been reamping with the Kemper via SPDIF for a number of years. Lately I have noticed that the input, with the same guitar and pickups, starts clipping a lot on input . I have reduced the Reamp settings and even reduced the overall output from Cubase but still suffering.
Coincidently my SPDIF cable has started playing up and as I didn't have this issue when using XLR I just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced the same issue.
If I plug my guitar directly in and monitor the input it does not clip but with SPDIF it does so I assume its the sound from the soundcard but even turning that down to accommodate the clipping reduces the overall dynamics.
Routing:
Guitar to kemper
SPDIF out to soundcard (record dry signal)
Out of soundcard SPDIF
Sound processed and returned via SPDIF
Is there any benefit to XLR over SPDIF such as stereo reamping etc.
