Hi all,
I want to record in Transpose mode however there is a slight delay with the note in -2 . I read that this is because before the software can recognize the drop note, it needs to hear the note first, which makes perfect sense.
Is there a way, when recording, to get rid of this effect so that my playing matches to the click I am playing along with? ie, 180 bpm, I seem to be a little late in the timing.

Here is one way to do it:
After you record the track, you can slide the waveform of the track to the left, to line it up with the beats.
The best way to do this is record the guitar part without transpose and then use software to do the pitching afterwards. I usually just play along to the drums, to temporarily bring midi parts down to match. Pitch n Time works well for this in Pro Tools.
Better still, record a DI signal and pitch that down before reamping it. This will sound the most natural in both tone and timing.
