Floyd Rose Issues

  • Has anyone else had more issues with Floyd Roses than with Ibanez edge systems?

It comes as something when the most stable trem system I have is an Ibanez Edge 3.

Anyone got any tips or things they use to help with tuning stability having used the bar at all?

  • My Floyd rarely goes out of tune, like Sambrox says it’s all in the setup. It needs to go back to its zero point. The bridge should be parallel/ flat and not tilted back or forwards.

You can use the ESP arming adjuster, basically it’s one half of the old Ibanez ones used on the Steve Vai guitar. https://www.amazon.com/ESP-ARM…ng-Adjuster/dp/B003C2V8D6

Floyd Rose now sells the same thing: https://floydrose.com/collecti…oducts/tremolo-stabilizer

But you will want to get your Floyd setup correctly before using the stabilizer.

    Rock on! ?

  • The more likely issue is that the knife edges are hosed. With a real Floyd, all of mine come back to pitch. When I buy a used guitar, sometimes it doesn't come back to pitch. After my setup, I check the knife edges if the tremolo doesn't come back to pitch. Almost always, it is the dull knife edges. Only once was it anything else.

  • Dunno if this helps "at all" but, If its like the Floyd/Edge whammies on my Ibanez Satch and Jem, there's a very tiny allen set screw in the middle of the adjustable larger one. You need to lose the little one (and make sure it stays lose) while tightening the bigger screw to where you want it. Then you can "just snug" the little one (do not over tighten). The little set screw in the middle is pure genius as it make the whammy the most stable I have ever owned. Please disregard if this is common knowledge. ;)

If you use FRFR the benefit of a merged profile is that the cabinet is totally separated in the profile.
