I have experienced the same problem.

Once you have manually edited the slot name, it'll say and doesn't change when you exchange the Rig on the slot.

I think it is to simplify creating new song-specific Performances. If someone uses a Performance per song, they would likely use the same Slot names and positions for each song (something like Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Solo). Once a Performance is created with Slot Names, making new Performances for additional songs can be done by changing the Rigs, and Storing As the new song name. If the Slot names were not retained, each song would require renaming the Slots.

I don't use song-specific Performances, so I tend not to rename the Slots. That way, if I change the Rig in the Slot, the Slot Name changes, too.

BTW - I do name most of my Performances (but, not the Slots). I use names like "All I Ever Use", Marshalls and More", "8EEEEZ", etc.

Be nice if it was a selectable option.
I will have templates of performances that fit most of our songs live but most of them still have different rigs that need adding in place if others. It’s annoying when the performance still refers to a rig that is no longer there.
