FRFR for Kemper in a Studio

  • Hi

I want to get an FRFR monitor for playing/recording with a Kemper in a studio environment.

I have tried a Headrush 108, and whilst the guitar sounds great. the 108 has a constant hiss which can be heard all the time and is not good when recording.

I have also tried a Yamaha DXR 8 but the fan noise is equally off-putting.

I checked the specs for the QSC K8 and that too has a fan although I have not tired one.

    Any suggestions please?

    Thanks

    Mark

  • Do you plan to mic the FRFR when recording ???? :/

Why not use the XLR outputs ? Depending on what rig you use

it is already a "miced sound" coming out of the KPA ....

Or is the FRFR´s fan noice leaking into other microphones ???

Move FRFR or microphones away from each other :)

    Cheers !

The adjective for metal is metallic. But not so for iron ... which is ironic.

  • If you are using a mic in the studio to mic your FRFR, you are technicly double Micing your rig, lol. Headrush sounds fine for monitoring or performing, but if you want to "mic" your kemper, you need the power amp and an actual cabinet. Otherwise, record directly from the XLR outs, cause micing the FRFRs will result in a very shallow or hollow sound.

    The answer is 42

  • In a studio, why would you want an FRFR? As has been said, if you mic it - you're literally mic'ing a mic'ed sound. The Kone speaker isn't meant to be mic'd. Kemper has said as much.
