If you want to Profile Amps using an external mic preamp:
✓Connect the output of your microphone preamp, to the RETURN of the PROFILER (use the quarter inch input). PROFILER Stage users should connect to its balanced TRS RETURN.

Guess I should stop arguing with you, even though the word"now" has a different meaning than "instrumental input".
Back to topic:
You can't only use the RETURN input for profiling! You can also use it as a regular input if you put a Mono Loop e.g. in slot A. If this makes sense or not is a matter of what you use it for and how you use it. But it's an option that exists.

Indeed. And that is working quite well when I connect my SPL Track One Channel Strip for vocals, acoustic guitar or some other instruments which come great through it
