I am brand new to the Kemper, I am 4 days into it, and oh my god, where have I been, a true awakening, I heard and I heard but I didn't listen, and now I know. I am floored by the amazing flexibility of this machine, the "ease-of-use" I am a dumbass with technology and everything has been very easy to accomplish, I keep thinking I am going to run into a snag and then bam it works and I am like that's it!!! Tonight I did my first download of a metal package. I have a question and want to see if anyone can assist, I want a heavy heavy, death/metal profile package, I am okay with paying and want to know what is out there. Any suggestions??!! Very eager to learn! God I love this thing!!!

I have the powered toaster, my band has a couple guys out of town so I can't really try full volume until next Saturday and I am dying to try it, I can only go to a certain volume because I am in an apartment but it just feels like it can really push and I am curious to hear

    Hi Gabriel,

    You're getting the Remote - that's terrific.

Since you've got the Powered Toaster, you don't need the Friedman ASM (powered monitor). I'm assuming you're thinking

Kemper Main Outs - to Front of House PA

Kemper Powered Monitor Output to Kemper Kab (or other passive cabinet).

Since the Friedman ASM is powered, the amp in either the Friedman or the Kemper will be redundant.

The thinking behind the Kemper Kab/Kone is brilliant. Please do yourself a favour and read this description of what it is and what it does so you'll know what to expect.

Thank you, I didn't even realize this as I hadn't researched, I planned on going direct with the Kemper the cabs purpose was for practice, home use, or monitoring. I have a Orange is running through now but was told other options would be better, however failed to mention to those peopel that I have the powered head. I read about the Kemper Kab which is why I was mixed when someone mentioned the friedman, I think I am doing the Kemper Kab, feels like they probably had my intentions in mind

Welcome, have fun here in the forum and with your Kemper! Sounds like the fun is already going on, very good. Indeed it is an incredible machine which opens up a universe of great sounds. Good to hear that you are happy with the ease of use... :thumbup:8)

Don't miss out the profiles on the RigExchange. Definitely some gems in there which should cater well for metal.

I had a questions regarding purchasing commercial profiles, when it says something like 4 Direct Profiles and 32 Studio Profiles, I would assume I am interested in the Direct Profiles for now as I am only using it for live at the moment, Am I able to download just the Direct Profiles or does it load the whole package to my Kemper

    Hi, Gabriel.

When you buy a Rig package - you get the whole thing. You typically don't get to take a subset of the package.

I'm writing the following keeping in mind you will be gigging with your Kemper Profiler soon (next Saturday?).

For live applications where you run the Kemper Main output(s) to a Front of House (FOH) system, you will most likely use Studio Profiles. Studio Profiles contain the entire signal chain of the amp that was Profiled. You can also use Merged Profiles. These will sound the same as Studio Profiles through the FOH.

Merged Profiles are more versatile than Studio Profiles because you can swap Cabs (the Cabinet section of a Profile - for now, let's think of that as the Kemper version of a cabinet Impulse Response). You can swap Cabs with Studio Profiles too, but the results may be more accurate with Merged Profiles.

The Direct Profiles are of the least interest for you because these aren't usable when you run to a Front of House (FOH) system. Direct Profiles do not have a Cab built-in. You have to add a Cab to the signal chain. That's fine if you don't mind going the extra step of adding a Cab, but to get usable Rigs right away, you want Studio Profiles and Merged Profiles. The Merged Profiles are best if you use the Kemper Kone, but Studio Profiles can work with the Kone too.

This is why most Rig Packs will have Studio Profiles (most common), Merged Profiles (of greater interest lately, since the Kemper Kone came out), and Direct Profiles (for people who have their own Cabs or who want to experiment swapping them out).

More reading on this in the context of using a Kemper Kone for monitoring -

Merged, direct or normal profiles for Kemper Kabinet?
