Kemper Control Pedals 4 and 6 not working.

  • I have 4 of the Mission Engineering expression pedals all hooked up to the Kemper control but for some reason pedals 4 and 6 don't work. I have tried switching the pedals around as well as the TRS cables. I have also tried different pedal modes. Pedals 3 and 5 work on matter what I have them set to, they always do exactly what they are supposed to do. Pedals 4 and 6 show that they are connected but nothing happens when you sweep the pedal. It doesn't show it in the Kemper and the calibration does nothing for them. Changing the modes or any other settings doesn't help either. I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue or if I am just missing something.

  • Have you read page 16 of the remote manual? https://www.kemper-amps.com/downloads/5#

4 is for Morphing and 6 is for Pitch. You have to set up a morph function and/or a Pitch effect in your profile for the pedals to "physically do something".

  • Yes, I read the manual several times to make sure that I didn't miss anything. Also, morph an pitch work just fine when I set them up using pedals 3 and 5. Another thing that I don't think I completely mentioned is, though the Kemper shows that the pedals are connected, the bars that show the sweep position of the pedal are either stuck in heel position or toe position. Sweeping the pedals doesn't change the status of the position at all.

  • Try disconnecting the network cable of the foot controller from the back of the Kemper when the Kemper is off, and then re-plug in and start up Kemper.

Did you try to use just a single working pedal and plugged into each pedal input one at a time (3-6) to check that each input works okay?

  • I fixed the problem but still can't explain what was going on. I just switched out all of the cables. I had just used some spare cables I had lying around and switched them out with high quality cables that I reserve for my recording gear. All four pedals work now but it still doesn't really explain why the problem was limited to inputs 4 and 6 even though I was switching the cables around trying to figure out the problem. I even tested those cables with a multimeter and they tested fine. Anyway, problem solved for now. I'll post an update if anything changes.
