Jose, Larry Dino, Bogner Marshall, Slash [Lenz Profiles]

  • Hi Everyone,

This was in planning for a while now, but due to problems with the website process, it took longer than it should have...

After being asked about potential Kemper Profiles of my modded amps quite a few times, I started to think about it.

This is what came of it: Lenzprofiles.com

I make profiles of our production amps that we're currently working on, amps that I modded myself, rare modded Marshalls, and other selected amps.

For now, we have 6 profile packs:

1976 Marshall JMP 2203 with my Slash #34/36 Mod with 6550 tubes https://lenzprofiles.com/profiles/p/slash-3436-modded-2203

    https://youtu.be/VjnrMQWszGg

1982 Marshall JCM 800 2204 with my Full Jose Mod https://lenzprofiles.com/profiles/p/jcm-2204-jose

Reinhold Bogner modded Marshall JMP 2204 with the infamous blue PCB https://lenzprofiles.com/profi…-modded-marshall-jmp-2204

Mathias Dieth's Steavens modded Marshall JCM 800 2204 that was used live and on U.D.O.'s Timebomb https://lenzprofiles.com/profi…th-steavens-modified-2204

    Larry Dino JM 802 rebuild from 1992 (1987 Marshall JCM 800 2205) https://lenzprofiles.com/profiles/p/lrry-dinosaur-jm-802

    Fargen MK2 50W that I rebuilt with a custom circuit https://lenzprofiles.com/profiles/p/lenz-custom-50w-rebuild

Here's what will come in the following weeks:

    - Lenz 20W Octane Prototype that I'm building for Jeff Loomis

    - 1983 Marshall JCM800 1987 MKII that is getting a Full Jose Mod

    - Marshall 1959SLP with Full Jose Mod

    - Marshall 2203X with my Arcturus Mod

  • about the Slash: the profiles of Your #34/36 Mod Sounds Great! (maybe too much low end in some of them but it's fine, I can always adjust them later on my Kemper)

I also had a JMP 2203 '76 just with the #36 and it reminds me a Lot that head!

    Well Done !

    I'll get them for sure.

(Sooner or Later, not now 'cause I had to finish tracking a song and I already know I'll loose myself with your profiles as soon as I got them:)

  • Any plans to offer profiles for the "Marshall JCM800 Snorkler/Cantrell Mod" as well? Or are those kinda included in one of the other packs? In that video you nail Jerry's early 90s tone pretty well :thumbup:8)

  • Thanks! Yeah, back when I made those Slash profiles, I left a bit too much bass in the VR1, but as you say, you can easily dial it out on the Kemper, which is why I left it.

At some point, I'll definitely make a pack of a Snorkler modded Marshall. Maybe I can make them of that 4010 if I have enough time before I send it back.

  • Okay, I've tried those 2204 JMP Bogner modified profiles now, and they are really good.

Quick question what does the S1, S2 and S3 suffix mean in the naming. Also is the cab / mic'ing the same for all studio profiles in a pack? They certainly sound very consistent to my ears which is always a bonus for live use.

I'm super pleased and will definitely be back for more. The Jose 2204 pack is probably next on my list.

  • first of all, i bought the slash pack:thumbup:

what does B1 and B2 on the Slash #36 B1 mean?

is there any difference in the cut version (only more treble and presence)?

Cry Baby Slash Classic Wah -> KPA -> main to FOH ->KRK6 -> Monitor out DXR10 -> EXP DVP3 -> Remote: Guitars: Slash Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop - James Tyler Variax JTV59 - Epiphone Les Paul with EMG 81 - Furch GN2 Nylon -> Maybach Lester 60 -> Kemper Powered Cab -/ Focusrite Scarlett

    Thanks, glad you enjoy them!

For that pack, the S is meant to mean smooth. When I profiled them, I wanted to offer different levels of aggressiveness, because I know that a lot of people like their sound on the brighter side, whereas I mostly prefer S3-4, at least when just playing on my own...

Yes, I always profile an amp in one sitting, so that there won't be any mic changes. I try to stay consistent with it between amps but also try to tweak the mics to get the best out of the amp.

My Slash mod has a gain boost that also alters the character a bit. The profiles with the B have that boost engaged.

Yes, the cut profiles in that pack just have added brightness.

    WOW! Finally got them today!

yes, I've made some adjustment to the eq and I didn't try them all but.. WOW! they sound HUGE!

Did You use other outboard equipment or it's really just amp+cab+mics?

anyway they're Really really good to me! Well Done Mr. Lenz!

PS on the site You write ''27 Studio profiles'' but thay are actually 28..

and seems you've missed to inculde the ''Slash #34_4 cut''. is it because it's already bright enought?

  • you only have to take the 34_4 and tweak presence and treble + 0,7 . Then you have the cut version

Cry Baby Slash Classic Wah -> KPA -> main to FOH ->KRK6 -> Monitor out DXR10 -> EXP DVP3 -> Remote: Guitars: Slash Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop - James Tyler Variax JTV59 - Epiphone Les Paul with EMG 81 - Furch GN2 Nylon -> Maybach Lester 60 -> Kemper Powered Cab -/ Focusrite Scarlett
