I wonder if anyone can show me the right way to achieve what I want.
With much trial and error I have found a way to get me a smooth cleanish but still distorted sound which matches a solo tone that I want to copy. Only, to achieve this I only need simply turn the lower tone knob of my Les Paul all the way counter clockwise for eliminating all highs. The result is a great tone with really lots of sustain, perfect to copy the tone you hear in the first example (which BTW is done with a Fender strat).
The only thing left is to get this tone with just the aid of a certain present EQ and matching frequency settings within my Powerhead and get the same result. That would also leave the tone knob on my Les Paul guitar. But I can’t get this done with all the possible sorts of EQ's and combinations, meaning: not so simple...!
so this is the original tone
