Kinda defeats the purpose with how good it's direct sounds are, but just curious of the results with a good tube power amp (VHT etc) and 4x12, vs direct recording.
Anyone micd the KPA with a power amp and 4x12?

They did it at my show last week I think the DI is better.

DI profiles thru my Mosvalve power amp and 2X12 cab are quickly winning me over. Save the cab portion of a DI profile to get the meat back in the sound and try it with any of the regular mic'd profiles. Works really well on a lot of them.

I run my KPA through a ADA Microtube 200w Power Amp and a stereo a 2 x 12 cab wired in stereo, with a EV-12L on one side and a Eminence Tonker on the other side. I much prefer this setup to DI for on stage monitoring. Sound guys mic my cabinet as normal.
I did run through my 4 x 12 for a while, just to try it out. It also sounded great, but I rarely play at venues which require a 4 x12 cab.
Recently, I picked up an old Polytone cab for 49.00 which I'm really liking. I think it may have been designed for bass or possibly jazz. It has a 12" woofer (swapped the original for an Eminence Tonker) a 8 " mid driver and 2 tweeters. The cool feature is that it has separate bass and treble input jacks on the back, so I can use my stereo power amp to adjust the low end or the highs.
