Using my Blackstar HT-5 as a (speaker) cab. (Powered Kemper)

  • I'm trying to get some sounds out of my Blackstar HT-5, using it as a speaker cab for my powered Kemper, but unfortunately to no success...

I'm running a speaker cable from the monitor out, of the Kemper into the FX Return of the Blackstar. (Also have jacks plugged into both the Send of the loop, as well as the guitar input)

Might be a stupid question, but does the amp need to be turned on? (Didn't help either by the way)

I'm guessing it's probably related to my output settings of the Kemper, which are:

  • In principle that should work, however

    - you should use an instrument cable to transfer this line level signal

    - you need to switch on the Blackstar as you intend to leverage it's built in power amp

    - you don't need to activate Monitor Stereo

    - you might need to further crank up Monitor output Volume

    - if there is still no sound, check the Mionitor Output Source, default is "Monitor Mono".

  • Found out the problem:

Forgot to connect the amp with the cabinet...^^

  • I have a HT-5 head, it has a tube power stage so it's going to color your sound a bit. I have a UK Marshall 1922 cab, the old Blackstar rocks on it 8)

5 watt can be loud on a good cab though. My Boss Katana has power scaling, i run it on 0.5 watt!
