Am I correct in my understanding that the Stage only allows communication with a single MIDI device (owing to the fact there is just a MIDI Out but no MIDI Thru)?

you can send MIDI program changes to two external devices from any Profiler. Since the Stage only offers a single MIDI out you need to assign a different MIDI channel to each of the external devices and connect them either with a thru box or by utilizing the MIDI thru of the device that is connected directly to the Profiler.

Ah, many thanks for the clarification!

you don't need each device to have a dedicated midi channel. In cases of need, two or more devices can share a midi channel, they just have to listen to different commands. To connect more than one midi device to the Kemper, the device to be connected must have a midi thru connector, or use a midi splitter.

in case of program changes you need to assign different MIDI channels unless you want to send the exact same one to both devices

Been doing this a long time and Kemper Support #1 is correct
