Impulse Response names - end of name cut short

  • Hi all,

When importing Impulse Responses (drag and drop) into rig manager it cuts the names short.

I have a load of Redwirez cabinets and I cant tell which is which inside of rig manager. The only way to tell is to save the profile and then look at the cabinet comments on the profile and it'll state the wav name there.

Is there a way around it? I know rig manager is flawed big time but this seems a bit silly.

RM seems to be a favorite punching bag these days. Is it perfect, no.

Nor is it ’flawed big time’.

    It’s a character limit.

IRs with ridiculously long names are a pain.

The 260-character path limit is due to fixed buffers in the runtime library for DOS/Windows path processing (e.g. ANSI <=> Unicode, working directory, and DOS<=>NT path conversion).

The path is the location on your hard drive where the file exists. Windows has a limit of 260* characters, OneDrive supports up to 400 characters in most cases and MacOS can support up to 1024 characters or more.
