It would be nice if there was an auto swell effect. I'm planning on using my Kemper (that I just ordered today) in church, as it is the ideal direct solution for guitarists. I'm often asked to do volume swell stuff, and it would be cool if I could get that violin like attack with out doing the volume pedal dance required, (as it's typically called for on those prayerful moments with just the acoustic guitar or piano playing. Yes, I can do that sort of thing if I pluck one beat ahead and then crank the volume knob back and forth for each note, but I'm too lazy and I screw the timing up. Wouldn't this sort of effect be quite simple to include. And yes, I also want pitch effects. For my uses, I like adding an octave above and blending it in with the original tone, gets that organ-like sound. That's the main thing I'm going to miss from my G-system.

Exactly. I play at church. We meet in a beautiful concert hall on a local college campus. We have to have zero stage volume & use IEMs, so I have no use for a power amp and always play direct.

If some parameters were added to the gate effect we could achieve what the slow gear pedal does.

... but it is voltage-driven, while we'd need it time-related.
Furthermore, we'd need its graphics to be asymmetrical... notes must not fade out

I thought so.
You enter how many milliseconds you want the opening to last.
If the noise gate allows a long opening time you'll hear the sound rising in volume from silence to full volume.
That crescendo will last as long as the value that parameter is set to.
I thought that only the threshold for opening and closing the gate are voltage driven.
Maybe I'm missing something else? -

The Attack knob controls the speed of the volume swells.
Is Sensitivity simply is a threshold control for the effect?
If so, I suggest Kemper add a THIRD PARAMETER:
A Touch control -
Set at "0". it would work like the original. But, using a "+" or "-" setting would allow playing dynamics to control the speed range of the attack delay, with the maximum swell set by the Attack knob.
If the Sensitivity control IS what I have described, then add a THRESHOLD control

I vote auto swell I don't want another exp pedal under foot trying to keep my system simple. Or I will have to grab my old zoom ms50g, I did an ok job.

It may be. But the trigger is signal-related: for example, if you play a note quietly it might not play at all. Try with extreme settings, you may easily get some Metheny-like, synth-horn sound by properly setting your guitar volume -
