Take a look at the Seymour duncan website - it is just a matter of slightly changing the way the red, black, white, and green wires are connected.

will have to try this. I have a US lone star strat with pearly gates that sound awesome. I added a HR in the neck an it sounds abit muddy, in hindsight i probably shouldnt have put a high output pickup in it but iwas much younger.
yup, the HR is a pretty high output pickup. Framus used to put them in the neck position, since metal players liked the sound for solos.
It's a pretty fat sound, lots of mids, I wouldn't necessarily desribe it as 'muddy', tho - the Pearly Gates on the other hand is a very bright sounding pickup. I had one years ago in one of my guitars that needed more brightness than the stock pickups dekivered, and it was simply too much.My point is: If you have dialed in your sound to be great with your (bridge!) Pearly Gates - it will be really dull with even a balanced neck pickup. I have a HR in the bridge of my '94 Legacy and a 'normal' SD single coil in the neck position, both sound great with the same rig.
