I am currently using a Yamaha DSR112. Very happy but super bulky, thinking about changing to the Kabinet. Anyone has experience coming from a FRFR to the kabinet?
yes, much more amp like and satisfying to play

Wow, hard to imagine this… the TC unit must be surprisingly good.
C kemper recommends not to use a valve power amp as it can add too much colour. For this purpose a simple class d amp gives all you need
like those 20 watters
I have both: Seymour Duncan PS170 (ICEPower) and TC BAM200. Unlike the PS170, BAM200 is tailored for bass guitar. With all controls at 12 o'clock it has a pronounced mid-range dip with boosted low and high end. To get something close to a flat response you need to set with Bass at 10 o'clock, Mid at 3:30 and High at 10 o'clock. That provides a response that's flat to +- 1db from 30 Hz. to 10 KHz. Also note that the BAM 200 has a lot more gain than a dedicated power amp. Set the Kemper monitor out at around -30 db and run BAM200 gain at around 10 o'clock. Set BAM volume to suit.
thats interesting, i did install an icepower 200 recently so was able to move my Bam200 on. I thought the icepower sounded a bit more closer to what things should be, but i didnt use your flat eq at the time for the bam. Either way great options to have at an affordable price
Here is what Thomann replied: No, unfortunately not, Kemper sells the Kone speaker only directly over their own web shop
what if you buy the actual cabinet with it?
Maybe try one of the online stores that sell the kabinet
I have a powerhead kpa. I’m thinking about putting two Kones in my Mesa vertical 2x12 cab.
Has anyone done this with a real and been happy with the results? Obviously the Mesa only gives me the UK V30 sound but curious if I’d like the cab as a converted FRFR cab.
Is it simply plug and play to install the Kones or is soldering involved? Is there any other parts I’d need to buy to install them?
just like any other modern speaker, you can just slide the spade terminals on
Howdy folks!
So I’m intrigued by the Kab+Icepower option. If you mount the icepower in the Kab, how do you handle the power source? Do you have to install a mains jack to get power to the amp?
If anyone has given this a try I would be interested to hear what the install procedure was like. Can’t decide if I make a Franken-Kab or just cool my GAS and wait on the official powered version...
yes you need a power socket in the cab panel. Some of us done this recently in the kone thread on here, has all you need. You dont know how long the official power kab will be, this is fairly simple and cheap
same on a clean profle with no fx engaged?
edit: i see you switched it off
I’ve been watching the thread with interest. Can you list the Parts Express part number for the cables that are required? I looked on their site and the amp is obvious but looks like they have a few cables associated with it? Thanks in advance for any insight
this is the cable set i bought recently
No, AC connection is other connector, is it this but on off Thing maybe ?
J4 is 'auto start' according to the diagram on my ebay auction. i just thought it odd that its on both board pics here but not mentioned for installation
Display MoreHere is how I wired mine up:
power: connector P1: Pins 1 and 2 go to the AC feed line (IEC connector) This is not polarity sensitive. Although it's not part of this connector on the power amp, be sure to connect the ground pin on your AC IEC connector to the ground lug on the power amp board.
Speaker: connector J2: Pin 1 to + on the speaker, Pin 2 to - on speaker
input: connector J3: Pins 6 and 7 tied together and both connected to ground/shield of the signal coming from the kemper.
Pins 8 goes to hot of the signal cable coming from the kemper. All of the other leads can be taped off, not needed.
can use connector J5 to connect LEDs if you want, but not required.
im waiting for my cable kit to arrive from china, i notice you guys have a black wire looped in J4, but not mentioned above. What is that connection? Also is it preferred to have the input jack and AC socket a good distance from the circuit board? thanks
ICEPower in an enclosed cabinet still has a thermal question.
If you are in your bedroom and would not mind a rack unit look at the Palmer Macht 402. It is around $420.00 U.S.
Yes one could DIY ICEPower modules for at least 1/2 the price.
i actually have the bam 200, im curious of any tone differences as the bam has eq and icepower doesnt. Also its one less box to hook up

i'm no master woodworker for sure, but here's my powered replacement back for the stock kemper kab.
Power amp is from parts-express. The IcePower 200W mono class D power amp. 3/4 inch MDF board, British Racing Green Tolex. I have a new appreciation for anyone who works with tolex and making corners look good
This power amp sounds great and plenty of volume. Gets practice and gig tested next week !!
i have extra tolex and extra PC board mounts if anyone is doing one of these and needs some supplies. message me
do the iec connectors need a power switch, or is the amp unpowered until the kemper is switched on? also where is your iec ground running to under the board? thanks. Mine arrives tomorrow
Do the icepower amps sound any better due to them having no EQ?I have a bam200 which is great but would love to hear opinion on those who have tried both, seeing as they seem fairly easy to install
Are these ice amps similar to the pedal and bass amps like the bam 200 a few of us have on here? They have EQ so wonder if they sound different
high quality pro vovox link direct s750 xlr/xlr cable, excellent condition, only home use. Changing my layout, this way too long for me now. These cost approx £135 new

Active CLR cab, original version. Had for many years but barely left the house so in very good condition. I dont play out live, so a bit overkill for me powerwise.
Incredibly flat PA in a cool looking traditional guitar cab form factor. Dont seem to be currently available either so heres one up for grabs

incredible from team Kemper, well done!
No. I hated it. It’s not like a real Mesa UK made v30. It’s more like an orange v30. I returned my Kabinet and stuck with a Mesa recto 2x12.
Different brand v30 speakers sound different?
