Ingolf, I have read the the amp Compressor setting does not behave quite like a pre or post compressor. I am not sure I understand what that means. Can you or anyone else elaborate?
If I understood CK right the compressor in the amp section only alterates the clean portions of a sound which in reality is fantastic.
I like to use it with crunch or semi driven profiles like the Morgan AC 20 for example.
When you dial up the compressor to, let's say, up to 4, volume pot full on, you hear only the crunch profile without any additional compression.
Now dial back your volume pot to clean up the tone and now, almost magically, the compression kicks in.
This is so awesome as it enables me to play with a good amount of distortion and clean at the same time all controlled by my own picking dynamics and the volume pot.
The profiler does this better than ANY amp I have ever encountered.
Zoom MS-70CDR here.
Welcome!
Enjoy your new machine... playing!
Welcome!
Lots of good threads on this topic already.
THe search function is your friend.
And also there's the http://www.wikpa.org/Main_Page
Have a good read!
I'm using this one. Sturdy as can be, but a bit bulky. More a road case than a hand bag. http://www.thomann.de/de/thon_…_kemper_profiling_amp.htm
Welcome Doc!
Well it's all subjective, but this is a good mix (preferably from a CD, not youtube) to check your kick-snare-vocals balance. http://youtu.be/5Z3spJ_z3Es?t=1m56s
As for mixing tips, watch all 93 episodes of the "5 minutes to a better mix" youtube series, and try the tricks out immediately after watching one video before going to the next, that should keep you busy for a while. They've made my mixes worlds and worlds better in just a months time.
+1. Stellar tutorial series and I'm very grateful that Graham has done them totally for free!
PF mode is perfect for this.
Can we changed that rig? Can it have effects. I thought it was an unprocessed signal through the device. I didn't personally care for it because it is lacking reverb.
AFAIK this cannot be changed.
And renaming one of your favourite rigs to default is problematic as renaming on the PC is not supported.
Feedback through in ears...hmmm, is that fun?
Having said that.
Often I scroll onto a high gain Profile (humbuckers) and with both hands off the guitar it starts feeding back just because the gain on the original mic'd amp/Profile was so high...that should come through the in ears...I think?
Sometimes yes, when the stars align...
Seriously, in order to feedback it has to feed back.
IMO 'best of both worlds' pretty much sums it up for the powerhead/powerrack.
You're a smart man...
I'm interested as to what the Kemper guys like Don have for advice here.
Interesting topic!
What's wrong with running the powerhead through his guitar cab?
Well, nothing's wrong about that, of course. It sounds awesome.
Flexibility here means the flexibility to enjoy all the cabs as they were originally profiled.
This is only possible with an FRFR cab.
Did refining get you nearer to the original?
Yeah, I wonder how he could be fooled so easily.
When he expected mic level the KPA must have delivered a very HOT signal.
Hey VES, it's all in good fun!
I don't take this seriously at all.
When you say the profiles don't sound like the profiled amps, how do you compare?
You need to compare the mic'ed amp with the profile and normally this is spot on.
If you don't like the results you need to improve your micing technique.
I would say that this is often a good advice with women too!...
True dat.
