Up to now I have been using my trusty Atomic FR actives (I have one wedge and one box) for my KPA's amplification and I have been quite satisfied with this solution.
While I find that playing audio material isn't exactly HiFi though the Atomics they do a great job giving me a 'I have an amplifier on stage' feeling.
What I don't like in the Atomics is the tweeter that tends to squeal in a very unhealthy way when faced with a certain amount of gain, and it's therefore very difficult to get controlled amount of feedback.
Also the Atomics are a bit bulky and heavy. Now the core story:
I have a Fender Mustang III standing around. Yes, the little decent sounding, 100 W, 269.- Euro modeling amp, equipped with a 1x12” Celestion G12T-100 speaker.
Now I tried to use it as KPA monitor the other day.
Plugged KPA Monitor Out into the loop return of the Mustang.
Cab Off on KPA's Monitor Out.
Lowered the presence and the treble a bit on the KPA's Monitor EQ.
Result: JAW DROPPING.
Really: So shockingly good.
I don't know what CK and the dev team at Kemper have done to the KPA recently, but there's certainly some magic happening when turning the Cab Off in the KPA.
Because the little Mustang still clearly reflects what amp and cab I choose in the KPA.
I hear a Marshall JCM with 4x12" as well as an AC 30 with 2x12" out of my monitor, although it's clearly not FRFR.
And I can finally get controlled feedback much more easily than with the Atomics
THIS IS AWESOME!
Because it opens up a whole lot of possibilities for me.
The footprint of the Mustangs is very small, for example, they're cheap, they're light (16 kg).The purpose of my post is:
Try the Monitor Out. Try different solutions. Look what Cab Off and Monitor Out can do for you. Be surprised! -
A great story! Thanks! And welcome!

Maybe you can be more specific as to what you're using as a monitor.
And how this monitor behaves at a certain loudness not only feeding your KPA Signal into it but also for example CD material.
This should give more of an hint what to look for. -
It has been stated several times, also by CK himself, that amp and cab volume don't change anything soundwise.
They only level out different perceived loudness between different rigs.
When you get a better feel and response with your speaker at higher levels it could be that your speaker needs a certainly level to work right.
But you could easily simply turn up the master output to achieve the same. -
IIRC it's from the original factory rigs.

They're playing several German dates. I'll be seeing them in Dortmund, and Hamburg, of course. Maybe in Cologne, too.

After all this thread shows that many Fully Grown Men Individuals TM have strong feelings for the Fixx.
-
Trial and error, then.
-
No, not yet. I'm absolutely sure that the whole 50th anniversary series delivers.
But for the price they're too low wattage for my taste.
Bring on the profile! -
Hehe, I'm looking forward to your profile, then.
I'm waiting for a Marshall 6101 in mint condition to arrive soon. This one will do the trick as well.Regarding the Fixx: Finally they'll be playing in Germany in October. First proper tour since the ink tour 1991.
They also have a great new album out called 'Beautiful Friction'. Best thing is I'll be seeing them TWICE on their German

Interesting .... I love that FIXX guitar sound.
Can I setup this with the KPA effects? How?Hey!
1. Take a moderate gain era Marshall (JCM 800 is what JWO used, but plexi should be ok as well).
2. Place a compressor in one of the stomp slots. Compressor in Fixx sounds is clearly audible, so turn up the gain and lower the threshold.
3. Strat in position 2 is mandatory.I'll try to build a patch when I find the time.

All deja-vu again, for me.

Im reconsidering returning my Kemper. I dont know if it was something serious or maybe just a glitch that could be remedied with the new firmware. If its not really a problem there would be no real reason to return it.
Opinions please, should I return it for a new unit or ride it out and see if anything else happens? I've had it for a month with no problems other than that one time.
I get the impression it's safe to wait.

Thanks for the profile but FWIW THE FIXX didn't have a Rockman sound at all!
Jamie West- Oram, whom I admire very much as a guitar player, used a JCM 800 slightly the point of breakup with an MXR compressor to smoothen up the breakup. Plus some chorus and delay/reverb, of course).

Sorry if this is not quiet the right thread but because pedals are the matter .... :
I already read somewhere that at the moment I cannot control the Delay Mix with a pedal.
I would like to do this !
Is there a way or will there be one in future?
(I use an ART X-15 Ultrafoot at the moment)Delay Mix has been requested very often and is on the list.

No.
This open-air is run very professionally.

They even have a webcam installed.

In a worst case scenario I only have to plug a cable from m HD 500 to go from there. Normally I use it along my KPA in 4CM.
