It was just channel 3 of an evh 5153 amp into a Palmer speaker simulator.
Glad some of you like it.
Upgradeable DSP?..Thats very interesting......
Just a thought Will. There are a few profiles on the rig exchange using a Palmer speaker sim instead of a miced up cab. You could always switch the cab on these for the cabs on your profiles if you want. Might be the sound you are after.
Just type palmer into the search line of the exchange and you will see a few I did way back when......
I have one of the Korean ones.
My verdict ......
Magnetic pickups very good
Acoustic models very good
Electric models....meh. They tend to get very muddy, in particular the Les Paul models
Doesnt like palm muting on the models. Just a symptom of the piezo pickups being on the opposite side of your palm to the pick itself so no matter how much you change technique or try to eq it 'chugga chugga' just aint happening on the modelled sounds. Fine on the mag pickups though.
I use a Matrix GT1000FX into either an EVH 4x12 (Greenbacks) or a Cornford 4x12 (V30s).
Flat monitor output eq.
Sounds fantastic to me.
No need to disable cabs on profiles 10-17 for power amp/cab. There is no cab in the profile.
A handful of profiles I did of my Marshall JVM401HJS (The Satch sig Marshall).
They are all 'direct' profiles of the amp and power amp through a Rivera Rockcrusher. These were made specifically for power amp and cab use (no speaker involved in the profile) so if you want to use a speaker sim I would recommend one of Tills.
Let me know what u think.
EDIT Profiles 1-5 seem to have a cab portion attached as I misadvertently had cabs locked on when I took the profiles.
10 = crunch red
16=OD1 Red gain on full
Christoph said some time ago that it would be an easy matter to add tone stacks of different amps to the KPA, and I believe was in the process of building a library of them.
Dont know whether there are any plans to actually add this in the near future or not.
At an interview for guitarmuse.com he said...
"The equalizer is another obvious tool to go beyond (the physical
range of the profiled amplifier). We are building up a library for
passive tone stacks so every amp can be equipped with the corresponding
equalizer, even after the profile has been captured. The tone can be
shaped then as on the original. But you can even choose another passive
tone stack for your profile, or even a studio equalizer, that goes far
beyond the boundaries again."
Are you hoping to get the sound through the monitors the same as through your amp and cab?
Plus, another question - if you delete a rig out of the Favorites section, does it delete it from the Kemper entirely,or just the favorite section? .
If you press 'delete' then yes, it deletes it altogether from the KPA.
To remove from favourites, press and hold the rig button, just like you did to get it in there originally.
ie first press of rigs button puts it into favourites, 2nd press removes it from favourites.
I read Christoph saying the monitor outs were 'ear tuned' to a 4x12 with V30s.
I tried a V30 loaded 4x12 last night at a gig last night (I was also going out to the pa through the main outs) and have to say it absolutely smoked. Id been using (and was very happy with) a greenback cab before, but I much prefer the V30s in this case. Well worth a try if you get the chance.
+1 from me too....
I think what you are experiencing is the miced up sound phenomenon.
The profiles are of a miced up amp, and sound just as a miced up amp does. The mic itself plays a huge part in the sound, very much emphasising highs and lows.
You will probably get a lot closer to the (amp in the room) sound of your Carr if you switch cabs off and use a power amp/cab.
Does the carr have an fx loop?
If so you can try this out by plugging the monitor out of the KPA into the fx return of the carr, switch the KPA cab sims off and see if this is the kind of sound you are looking for.
Hi and welcome. Im using mine mainly live too and love it.
Dead easy with the UI and sounds great.
The MFC works fine with the KPA via midi, but not with the cat 5 cable.
I dont think there are any plans for either an editor or a usb interface.
There has been a lot of talk about the possibility of a librarian, but honestly the interface is so easy an editor would actually be more fiddly to use than the unit itself.
Harmonizer/whammy/pitch shift please.........
Someone seems to have found a solution to this: load a cab that is empty. In this cab collection here is a cab that is called "Cab-bypass". I did not check it out yet and don't know how it is done but this seems a good way to go.
Adding a 'blank' cab works very well indeed for power amp/cab use, and was essential in earlier firmware to get a consistent sound accross profiles. Recent firmware has really improved the cab off sound in the monitor section however so now I rarely even bother to load a blank cab any more.
