Need an external preamp if you are profiling into the jack input. KPA's internal preamp is for the XLR input.

And what really pissed people off was the fan noise.

Before Kemper, I had the G3. Amp sounds OK but not in Kemper league. But the Hotbox emulation is pretty spot on. I used to have one and sold it.

Recording samples of profiles on soundcloud, with some basic details, would be a really good idea and far more useful than stars. Andy's doing this on his site and it's got me taking the plunge and buying two more of his profiles.

Laurie Anderson meets side two of 'Low'. Great stuff.

Andy,
Have you made any changes in your profiling process since the first set you released?
-
From AND 44 "its about the time it took and the effort I went through to get the amp supplied in the first place to profile them, plus studio time, and
finally my own time doing such a big job." That's why I'm happy to pay for a profile of a great amp which hasn't yet gone up on rig exchange. But to fellow profilers - keep them coming. I've still got a few amps left in my locker which I'm planning to profile.

About to upload two profiles now. One is the distorted one on 9, which has a sort of Stones 'Sticky Fingers' vibe (perhaps not the best LP to refer to given the turn this thread has taken) and the other is a clean/just breaking up version of it.

I have bought his Tone King Imperial profile because the Champ (only 99p) got me curious and I'd really like to play that amp. It's a very good profile, although I have still had to tweak. But there have been some wonderful free ones up recently. I really like Alexis Boyer's two, the Vibroverb and the Two Rock.

There is a very clean one which I use for bass, called Bass Showman.
-
I have listened to his sound files and I can hear the differences between amped track and kempered track. I have heard this on all profiles and I adjust by reducing pick somewhat and maybe throwing in some power sagging. He also makes a good point about the effect of the buffer on the sound of your guitar going into the amp via Kemper as opposed to the sound going straight in from guitar to amp.

Still think the FAS forum is 105% realer.

I second that. And don't be put off by the ratings system. All my favourites have been user profiles.

Love this bit in one of the comments of the review, in translation "it is a bit much to ask of a person who spends hundreds of thousands of
dollars to record THE sound to expect that to admit he can demonstrate
that a mass product, the Cherethites and Pelethites can buy off the
shelf, as good (and better!) sounds like his "million dollar babies" -
The 1968 Showman DI is back up on Rig Exchange.
A new profile of this amp, the vib channel on 9, will be posted later today.

I have done a profile of a custom amp Denis made for me in 1993. My amp is the third one down on this page, above heading 'Piggyback Setup'
http://www.dc-developments.com/cornell_amp_customisation.htm
It's based on an AC 30, but scaled down to 15 watts, and with Denis' tone circuit. It's very Rock'n'Roll and does not do clean. I've taken the mic back about a foot so there is a bit of room in the sound. I've also reprofiled my 58 Deluxe, again with mic off axis about a foot off and that is also up on Rig Exchange. It may be placebo, but I think both sound and profiling has improved since FW 1.09.

I think I'll take the plunge with the 4 profiles of the 64 Champ. Only 99p. I think posting samples would be a good idea. I bought Armin's 57 Deluxe set after hearing some samples on TGP.

Get your friend to let you make a profile of the bandmaster. Be good to have one of those on rig exchange.
