My favourite tweaking now is with cabs. Also like the pick setting and tube setting (the one which defaults to 3.3) on amp. Definition is also worth tweaking. I've given up using any eq. This sort of tweaking seems to work better.

Madame Sadie is Per here and has posted several good posts on refining.

And also an option to do it in reverse. I'm for trying the unloved no star profiles.

Try running into your soundcard from the analog XLR outputs rather than SPDIF. There is a sound difference. I don't like SPDIF, and it crackles sometimes.

There is a horrible fizz on the second clip. Is this your KPA profile? Is the first clip the recording of your amp? I haven't had that fizz on my KPA so maybe it's a hardware problem.
-
yes, that's the one. It's a good'un. Andy's second pack is also excellent. A third one is imminent, so my wife's going to be wondering why she never sees me in the evenings.

schneidas post 205.
Initialise rig is when you turn off KPA and press 'Rig' while you turn it on. On previous versions you would get a profile 'Initialised Rig'. Now you just get the profile (the one on the KPA when you turned it off) with its usual name, but it's initialised with no more 'Ruptcor'.

Was that the 57 Twin that came in AND44's first pack?

Today I heard the aliasing for the first time. I'm now on 1.09 and did my first profile on this firmware. Couldn't hear the reference amp and couldn't see any 'mute' control. Anyway, went ahead, did my standard refining. Got a profile, with quite a low volume. Good sounding profile (ymmv), but aliasing when playing above 12th fret. More pronounced when using power sagging ( I usually throw in a little). So, turn it off and initialise the rig and the aliens have gone away. I still find the volume pretty low on this profile and have had to yank the cab volume up. Still I'm pretty pleased with the resulting profile. I'd be interested to hear other users' experience of profiling in this new firmware. I may be imagining things but the profile noises sounded a bit different, more trebly. Still as loud as hell.
My profile was not of a high gain amp. It was a tweed deluxe on 4.

Sorry, I meant monitor eq.

Stemast post 12. I'm afraid this is now a dead link. If anyone has this, could they please PM me. Thanks.

Well, no piece of gear has ever reached the level of 'Tonal Nirvana', the KPA will be the first.[/quote]
I thought the Axe Fx reached that state back in 2009.

Agree with Bruno's comments (no 22 post) about the tone. It is 'purer' and there's less noise. Also, thanks for implementing Per's request for disabling output when profiling. This will improve the refining process for those who are stuck in the same room with their KPA and their amp.

Try master eq with about -4 on treble and presence, -1 on middle, +2 on bass.

Where can you download this 'cab bypass' cab?
-
I think someone posted a pic of their 55 Valco up here sometime ago. Wouldn't mind a profile of that.
-
I think C must be the recorded amp. I can hear the Kemper Doughnut in A and B. All sound excellent.
-
Yes, into input 1 on the amp. But, I am not sure about the master volume settings and whether I had monitor linked to master. So try it with monitor at -16 and don't link to master. I'll try this again this afternoon and get back.
EDIT.
Yes, my setting was based on not linking monitor to master. Try it like that with volumes from -24 to -16 on monitor, with volume on the profile at noon. I found that if I had my 'cab' on, part of the cab sound is retained, although cab is disengaged from monitor. I prefer it with turning cab off. Tried some Tweed profiles this time and sounded great into my CVR. Some great feedback on my 'Powderfinger' profile. Also worked well with my Vox profiles. -
My vote would be for Heater's 65 Deluxe. Great profile and great cab to use with other profiles.
