That's what I thought as well.

Welcome, Barry!
Where are you from? What kind of music to you play? In a band, or do any recording?
That's awesome!
Welcome!
Nice Rack!
...
Would you like Kemper to sell more amps? If you do, then you should listen to what I'm saying.
Why? Because you know better than the people who researched, developed, marketed, and currently support this product? Wow, you must be so much smarter than they are!
...' The reality is there are a lot of people out there deciding between the Kemper and Axe-FX for example. Some go with Axe-FX just for looks alone as you can't really play these in the store to try out. So that's a lost sale for Kemper.
Teenagers think like this. Not serious musicians. The latter is the KPA target audience.
... Of all the amps and gear out there. Kemper seems to be the most polarizing with regards to it's design. There's a lot of people out there who don't even take the Kemper seriously because it looks more like a toy. Fact is you'll buy it no matter I presume. But if Kemper redesigned it and made it a bad ass looking amp, they'll get more sales.
Professionals, or those looking for professional sounding gear don't care about such superficial things. You might be the exception, but I've never met anyone serious about tone who made their choice based on such childish criteria.
... And the USB flash thing would be pretty annoying. Lot of complaints on this.
Source? Is the occasional use of a USB stick so overwhelming for you?
I remember the first Axe-FX with it's constant FW upgrades. That device needed upgrades because it definitely shipped too early. And you had to use some MIDI device between the Axe and your computer for the upgrade. Took hours sometimes to accomplish this feat. THAT was a product that needed redesign, which it got in the AXE II.
... I'd have to go grab the USB flash out of the drawer and connect it to the computer. Drag and drop the files. Pull out the Kemper and flip it around. Connect the USB flash. Then flip the Kemper back around to do the update or whatever buttons you push to do that. Then pull the USB flash out and put it back in the drawer. Then push the Kemper back into it's place.
Wow, that sounds so tiring! Do you need to take a nap?
...Why bother with all of that if I could just leave a USB cable connected to it, and just connect it up to the computer and not mess with all that USB flash nonsense? That should have been fixed in an update or something, but I'm guessing it's a hardware limitation.
You're making a huge (and incorrect, imo) assumption here. I like that you aren't tied to a computer, as you would be in your scenario. What's easier to take to rehearsal - a computer or a flash drive? I'd much rather carry a flash drive to the Kemper to make updates instead of a computer.
Hello Kemper friends,
I played my first outdoor gig with my KPA on Saturday, and it sounded great. The only issue is I could not see the screen very well (mainly the tuner) in the bright sunlight. My Kemper rack faces up toward me (see photo) so it gets direct sunlight.
I have another outdoor gig in 10 days and would like to get this resolved before that. Does anyone know how I can increase the screen brightness? I don't need to increase the contrast - just need a brighter screen.

As promised, here's a side view of the rig as used at an outdoor gig on Saturday.

Welcome from the shores of Lake Superior.
I wish my basement was full of grass
I wish someone would mow my grass.
Thanks! Love this amp.
Yes, and that's coming from a guy who bought the Kemper to profile his own amps.
There are so many amazing profiles in the Exchange that the Kemper is a bargain at twice the price (10x even!).
I'd recommend a rack poweramp. There are several popular ones available - ART SLA, Matrix, or you could get a used PA rack power amp like Crown, QSC, Yamaha, etc. Just avoid the low-end junk amps like Behringer and Pyle Pro, etc.
No.
But I never think that, so don't go by me
Display MoreHey guys
Come the end of this month, I will probably purchase an unpowered "toaster" Kemper. Axe FX and Line 6 Helix don't as sound. Torpedo + real amp isn't the way I want to go.
This will be my first professional amp modeler and I'm coming from tube amps but tired of frailty, maintenance, volume etc.
What I'm concerned about is that this is a essentially a computer with the same spec it started with 3/4 years ago. Moore's law says things should have rolled on a bit since then... look at mobile phones.
My question is, is there going to be a Kemper 2 coming out in the near future or will this just keep rolling with firmware updates?
Have no fear - Moore's law doesn't apply here. The Kemper wasn't built on substandard hardware. Unlike modelers, the KPA was built correctly from the start. It doesn't need constant updates and improvements. The FW updates, while nice, don't really change the basic nature of the Kemper.
The lowest cost option that is also widely used is the ART SLA-1. 260w bridged mono at 8 ohms.
I guess I'm the opposite - I like that the Kemper doesn't need constant updating (unlike another product I won't mention )
... It's really all about having the patience to get your tones dialed in and then tweaking them a bit for each different venue...
Very well said!
It's ironic that we will spend months researching and trying out amps, looking for that perfect one (until the next search ), but often we have little patience when dialing in our tones on a KPA, etc. I think we get used to having SO many different amp tones, plus effects, that it seems like it should all be perfect without tweaking. We can sometimes forget how many tonal compromises we make with tube amps, and how much a single tube amp's tone can vary night to night.
A little study and a little time spent tweaking pays off so much.
