I've decided that I prefer a real guitar cab. I've done gigs with the CLR and others with a guitar cab and solid state power amp. The guitar cab (with the monitor cab off in the Kemper) just sounds/feels better to me. I don't *mind* the mic'd amp sound I get through the CLR but when I use a guitar cab the KPA is, to me, indistinguishable from a tube amp. I still gig with a tube amp occasionally and I don't feel like I'm giving up anything when when I go back to the KPA through a guitar cab. I do when I use the KPA through the CLR.

Hi,
I have an Atomic CLR active cab and a StudioSlips padded clamshell cover, both in perfect like-new condition, that I'd like to sell. I'd prefer not to ship them. I'm in San Francisco. $875 for both.
Thanks,
Brian

My pleasure! I'm glad you like it.

Does anyone have any suggestions for achieving a clean volume swell type Allan Holdsworth sound (like in the track Shallow Sea from the IOU record)? All of my experience is in a high-gain context but I've recently been wanting to experiment with these sorts of tones.I love that sound and years ago made a patch for the Rccktron Intellifex that got pretty close. My KPA version isn't quite as lush (I used multiple independent delays on the Intellifex) but I've uploaded the rig that I use these days for that sound. It's on the Rig Exchange as "Shallow Sea TH".
Here's a quick demo of the KPA version of the effect. I'm using the volume pedal on an FCB1010.

Yes!

Thanks guys!

On a side note, is there a demand for DI profiles of the '68 and '74 SuperLeads, the Lee Jackson Marshall, and the '78 Master volume Marshall? I could also do the '70 Fender Dual Showman Reverb.

Is it possible that you are exporting the reverb track only?

Hi,
I think it will work. If I'm not mistaken MIDI Control Change and Continuous Controller are just 2 different names for the same thing. A MIDI CC can send values from 0-127. When it is used to toggle an effect it generally sends 0 for one state (On or Off) and 64 (or higher) for the other state. A footswitch, like the Boss FS-7, connected to the MIDI Wizard's continuous controller inputs should work.
Brian
Thanks guys ....... damn ...... it would have been perfect if it sent Midi CC .....grrrrrrr

Yes, I use it in slot A because I like it before the other stomps but it should be fine anywhere before the amp.

A long time ago someone posted some EQ settings to emulate an EP Booster. I don't know how close the emulation is because I've never owned an EP Booster but I put this in slot A of almost every rig I've used. I love what it does.
Studio Equalizer instead of tube screamer
My fav was the Xotic EP Booster.
Left it on ALL the time. Amazing boost for all but boutique amps (which often hype the kids)
Supposedly the EchoPlex input circuit that Page famously used. Probably an easy circuit to emulate.

Hi,
What are you playing your Kemper through? Is it possible you're getting some compression from the power amp (if you're using one). I used to use Crate PowerBlock through guitar speakers with my KPA. I switched to an Atomic CLR and the dynamics seem much better now.
Also, the volume level at which you're playing may have some effect on the perceived dynamics. If you play the KPA at a volume lower than you normally play your tube amp it may seem to be less dynamic.
Brian
I have really been enjoying the Kemper. The only shortcoming that my MD and I have noticed is it seems to have a narrow range of dynamics. It's almost as if there is some compression going on all the time. No compressor is on btw :). Just the amp profile.
Feels like when I try to dig into the guitar to get more volume it's just not getting much louder. (I generally set the amp on edge of breakup.) These are with profiles I have made with my own amps. So I am used to how these amps typically respond.
Any ideas? Is there some setting on the guts somewhere I am missing? Would driving the input to yellow or occasionally red cause this? Or it it just the nature of the beast?
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
I found a similar issue, a locked cab sometimes changes after scrolling to different rigs, and reported it as a support issue. The Kemper developers are looking into it. Have you reported this one?

Really nice!! What profiles are you using?
-
Hi,
No, it's not a dumb or difficult question.
(from the reference manual) "The Output Source setting for Direct Output is only active, when not in Profiling mode and no analog effects loop (Stomp Loop) is active."
In other words it doesn't matter what the direct output setting is. When you're profiling the setting is ignored.

I have one of these and it fits perfectly and does a good job of protecting my CLR cube. I don't have a wedge but I'm pretty sure they make covers that fit them as well.

I have the DiMarzio Areas in a Tele and am pretty happy with them.
I'm planning on getting a set of Fishman Fluence pickups for my Strat. I heard them demonstrated at NAMM and really liked what I heard. They've just recently become available but the few reviews I've read have been very positive.

I vote for the '63 Vibroverb, the '65 Super Reverb, and the '62 Concert.

Thanks Brian, the Kemper does not show up in devices, in Virtual Box, yet in Preferences it says the connection is okay.
Thanks Brian, the Kemper does not show up in devices, in Virtual Box, yet in Preferences it says the connection is okay.Doesn't the "connection OK" in preferences refer to the connection to the Rig Exchange not the profiler?
-
My Profiler will not sync with Virtual Box on MacBook Pro.I've tried the front USB and the back. The test connection says "ok" on either port, and I can get the rig exchange to load in the Rig Manager, but when I double click on a rig - nothing happens on the profiler, and I have 2.3.1. Any suggestions?
Make sure that the Profiler is checked in VirtualBox's Devices->USB menu (I think that's the correct menu name, if not it's something close).
