i am running the Kemper direct into cubase via the stereo outs to a stereo input pair on a yamaha n12 mixer

however i can record the kemper on just the LEFT channel fine in cubase

is the kemper mono or stereo out for direct recording? do you lose anything just recording mono LEFT? i ask because i am limited on inputs on my n12 mixer and just would like to know

if i understand you correctly there is an overall MASTER volume then? for the unit? still being so new to this one i didnt knwo that, if that is so that would be fantastic to lower it and save it!

My Kemper is about a month old. when i got it i thought the volume of all profiles were really low. recording direct my levels were low, so i would just turn up the volume or move my faders up on my mixer going direct to cubase on my mac

my fractal 2 levels, 11r etc were all alot higher by default

not a big deal

but then i read here others did a reset with the system button and the volume was higher

well i did that, i powered it off, held in the system button and did the reset

NOW WOW, every profile is REALLY LOUD. i mean with my faders set to under 0 and the DEFAULT volume for each profile coming up it CLIPS like crazy! every one of them

i know you can turn down the volume with the knob but i need to do some sort of system side master volume decrease.

anyone else run into this? how did you fix it?

i like that its louder but these are unusable and a real pain to listen to till i turn each one down.

ah so i should store the profiles on my (mac) first. then format the USB on kemper

then put back on mac and put profiles in SHARED dir

then back to kemper and go from there with the browser/soft key etc

I just got my kemper last week, i have been going thru the profiles that shipped with it and do not want to erase these

i downloaded some profiles (not just cabs etc but ones that said profiles).

i was reading the manual and want to make sure i can add these TO my existing stock profiles and merge them

i read to do this

Create a "Shared" folder on USB stick and put profiles in there
insert USB stick into kemper
use soft key "external storage"
then you will get an option "import new content"

select this and you will MERGE the new with the existing

is this correct still?

Just a quick update

first, i found all the london sounds etc! thanks so much, i was looking for 65amps and totally forgot the london name

also, i dug in and did some recording with it this weekend. just some stock profiles into a Yamaha n12 mixer into cubase 6.5

the sounds........were staggeringly good! i ended up with about 4 different profiles in the song, all different and they layered so well. sent it to a friend who said "it sounds like real amps"!

looks like i am getting hooked here

i am not trying to be negative, but i wanted to write my first impressions since i have read so many others first ones.

i am looking for that chimey, breakup not high gain or clean really. i find most modellers do clean or high gain well but none do the chimey, breakup sound well. like a classic ac 30, one from the 60's or 70's. or a Dr Z or a 65 amps. especially the 65 amps

i thought it shipped with a 65 amps london profile but i cant find it on mine

i also bought it because i will use it for direct recording and i am listening to this in a well treated home studio thru events opals monitors etc.

i will say i played more last night and liked a couple of the stock profiles better this time

today i will dig in more and start trying out the amps and cabs etc

i will say i love how it is laid out, real knobs and hands on is always something i enjoy more than an editor GUI and mouse

so if anyone could point me towards the london i heard that would be very close to what i am looking for to get started for some songs i am doing

Gotta be honest, the jury is still out for me. i have the axe 2 and kemper sitting right next to each other (next to the 11r, next to the POD etc). i expected to be blown away by the kemper when i got it. i wasn't. i went thru all the profiles it shipped with and many were about the same league as the axe, some were a little better, some not.

played it with my PRS 513 and les paul

i was dissapointed BUT....

maybe this is another case of you have dig in and tweak. which is what i was hoping to not have to do alot of. my biggest gripe with the axe or any other amp modeler is how much time it takes to tweak to get a good sound.

we will see how it goes i guess, but i was def not blown away as i thought i would be, like i was when i heard a real 65amps amp

speaking of which does anyone know which profile the 65amps london is? i cant find it

i have a fractal audio axe fx 2, the 11r, etc

and a blackstar stage 60 mod'd amp that i put vintage 30 celestians in and swapped the tubes out for some nice NOS ones

plus a whole front end of blackstar pedals, the green rhino, wah etc

but i am just going to play the kemper and have no desire to compare it to anything other than what i hear from it for now
