I just had this experience with 2 x EV 15" Eliminator i Speakers and a Behringer iNuke1000. My modded Marshall right next to it, running through a Mesa 4x12. The Kemper +EV+Behringer wins in tone. Better clarity, better bass, more rich mids.

Did you try changing the distortion sense, say -7db?
-
Try and turn the Input Distortion Sense down to -7db. How does it sound now?
-
I think the JB is actually a high gain pickup even though in my mind it is medium gain. That is probably where I am having issues. Still, I feel like DS could be adjusted more automatically somehow.
-
Now that is interesting actually. I wonder if more people don't realize this is the case. From asking around a bit, people just leave the input distortion sense at 0db and go on their merry way.
-
It's kind of screwing with my head. I mean I don't really want the JB to sound like other pickups but when the gain is too high feeding profiles, they have this nasty high end thing going on I can't stand. The other thing is changing Distortion Sense does not sound the same as turning the Gain on the particular rig down. I know.. I KNOW CK said I am wrong and my ears are wrong.
-
I have no idea why I have forgotten about this about 10x times but I reset my profiler about once a year for a couple reasons but mostly to get fresh profiles and thus fresh ears.. so to speak. My issue is I keep forgetting that my Seymour Duncan JB pickup is HOT for the kempers input. I always think of the JB as like mid-gain and mid output but Kemper says otherwise. Most profiles sound right and good with my distortion sense at - 6-7db!
I feel like something might be amiss with my stuff because no one seems to have this issue. The issue of course being profiles start sounding very similar because the gain is too high. -6db on my distortion sense makes this dissappear which is great but am I the only one that notices this?!

huh interesting.. maybe I need to check those pads myself.
-
probably the smaller room vs outdoors I assume?
It's hard to accomplish thick mixes outside without major speakers and subwoofers. I mean have you just tried to up the bass knob a bit?
-
Exactly. It can't be that hard to accomplish for Kemper.
-
I had the exact same problem fixed the exact same way. Odd!
-
I wish Kemper had a preset Fletcher-Munson curve EQ that one could apply for low or high volumes. Seems it would come in really handy!
-
do a global reset, it worked for me when I had the same type of problem
-
Dudes, do NOT hex edit profiles. You are liable to corrupt the profile and makes some unhappy users.

This is one of the coolest posts ever. It's obvious when thinking about it theoretically but not obvious how to accomplish.
I will try this with my Mesa 4x12 w/v30s and see how it reacts.
-
I've always wanted the TC Flanger box but never got one and since the Kemper can probably do this type of effect I thought someone might have a go-to preset that sounds like it.

I use a Behringer cheapo iNuke 1000 and it sounds great *shrug*
