I hadn't read that!
If I get time tomorrow I will connect it up and have a look......
-
As far as I know there is no network support on the kemper. The RJ45 is for the foot controller.
-
..... ...I guess is going to be a long, long wait....just my guess....
Edit: Patch switching is around 2ms
Thats interesting, mine takes around a second with the new firmware!
Maybe I have something wrong then....

Well its not really my area of expertise but I worked 10 years or so ago on a nano kernel based linux that that combined latency and jitter of less than a microsecond and this was cpus with what we would now consider a very slow clock.
I would call this a hard RT as it had guaranteed timing, I know there are a lot of views on what RT is so maybe your definition is different?

Well I have a Firebird X and a Tyler variax and the Firebird is a much better guitar thats for sure.
The build quality of the variax is awful, it feels awful to play, it doesn't sound that good and there are serious noise issues when powered from the digital lead. Possibly the worse guitar I have ever purchased. I sent it back to Line 6 as I thought that I had a bad one and they sent it back saying it was normal!

Certainly Motu has a good reputation and quality,
Not from my experience they haven't!
-
I got one very soon after they came out. It is a pity but it is in its gig bag more than a year and a half now, getting more and more dusty.
I still prefer to play with my originals.
I have one of the Tyler ones. Bloody awfull guitar, I would sell it but would feel guilty about someone else having the lemon that it is!

Well that killed this thread

Hmm, makes sense that they need a separate DSP chip for audio.
Linux isn't a real-time OS! You usually have to overcompensate the hardware to make guarantees about frame timings.
Linux is only cheap if your time is worthless. You can get hard rt kernels for Linux, even standard kernels now provide soft rt.

Is there no device you can't turn into another?
Brilliant.

I bought Mesa triple recto and Toneking. Not my cup of tea; for my taste there are much better profiles available. Well it was only 10 euros, so i did not take too bad hit there... Changing the cabinet helps a little, but the base tone is still not as good at i would have hoped it to be. I tuned the input sensitivity (clean) for my strat and used strat profiles. For recto i still like Tills modern recto much better.
Try the tele and lp profiles as well.

I've now tried the Bassman and Tupelo profiles. These are great.
All the profiles are pretty good for me I must admit, I am very happy with buying the pack, well worth the money!

I don't remember seeing anything saying that users had to only offer free profiles when I bought my Kemper. Free profiles are a perk, but I am not entitled to everything or for that matter anything (besides firmware updates) being free from here on out. I bought Andy's profiles on my own free will. I have never read anything saying that if you provide profiles, you are expected to provide them for no charge. If guys like Andy can take the unit to another level, i for one am in complete support. If you don't want to pay for profiles, don't pay for profiles. If you can't have desireable profiles because an independent user wants to charge for their work and you don't agree with that philosophy, then you will have an internal problem. That is not the fault of Andy or anyone else who wants to follow this path of distribution.
Andy OWES the Kemper user base nothing. The Kemper user base OWES Andy nothing. Nobody has to do anything. I would like more options like what Andy has made. If they are free, great - if not I can make a decision at the time. There are plenty of free amps to choose from.
Nicely put.

I can't even believe this discussion.
Why do some people feel that when other people go out and work hard spending their own time, money and energy that they are somehow entitled to the fruits of their labor? It takes some nerve to expect And44 or anyone else to pay with his time, money and energy so you can play using their work without some contribution. And44 pricing is more than fair especially his already giving away 180 profiles.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but it takes some balls to be publicly mad about And44 not giving his profiles and publicly chastize him. Not cool at all.
I was just wondering if you guys who qre pissing and moaning about this, can I borrow your car and return it with no gas for free?
I think it is because it is a "soft thing" compared to a "hard thing".
As a software developer I get this all the time, "all software should be free, as some is free". The idea being that if some people want to write free software then all the other software is over priced. The same thing has happened to music over the last 15 years.
A hard thing such as a burger or a beer for instance then people expect to pay and they have no problem with it.

I agree a side chain on the delay is very usefull, rather like this beauty announced today http://www.moogmusic.com/produ…gers/mf-104m-analog-delay
Also I really like delay before the amp so having a delay we can stick anywhere would be super nice, I don't care if it is mono.

The Dr Z Carman Ghia is really good for my ears, makes me want to buy one!
