Roland VG-99 Django Maccaferri-Style, D-Hole Jazz Guitar
Experiment with different pickups.
The in-between Stat sounds are cool!
It up on the rig exchange now.

Here is a profile of the VG-99 GR-300 synth done by tapping into the 13 pin pickup.
Play single notes with the bridge pick up.
Think Pat Metheny or King Crimson.Different sounds can be had with different pickups.
It sounds best with gain below 50%.
Its up on the rig exchange now.Bill

Hi Chris
I got closer than I thought I would!
Its in its infancy with MANY variables.
I just started so more to come.
BillI like people who think outside the box. Bill how close did you get to the original
-
Here is a start of an experiment profiling the Roland VG-99.
I took apart the 13 pin pickup and tapped in to the guitar modeling section of the VG-99.
I profiled an acoustic guitar and a banjo sound.
Use your bridge pickup.More to follow as I dig into this.
They are up on rig exchange now.

Thanks Jake!
They sound great. I will use these for sure.
I would love to have a profile of the Piranha preamp in a clean setting with out a cab. Thanks again Bill
-
I get NOTHING like that in any profile.
Are you over loading the master?
Check the master led. If its yellow to red you are overloading the output. -
I heard a difference in EQ between the Kemper and reference in your track.
I took your track and split each piece.
I eqed the Kemper or first heard piece to match the original reference pre amp.
I found there was a level difference as well as a difference in the low end and a tiny bit in the top.
I added 5db at 190hz and -1db at 6k.
Easily done with the Kemper studio eq after profiling. Its a snap to do.Here is your track with the Kemper part eqed and leveled out.
I only spent a few minutes on it but you can hear how much closer they sound.
(Kemper first then reference)http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10233188/kemper%20fix.mp3
QuoteShort comparison clip, back and forth between the Kemper and the Mesa Quad. 4 notes of each. Starting with the Kemper.

I tried profiling some distorted pre amps today with very brash high end and must say the Kemper profiled all the harsh top end.
SO that said, there seems to be no ultra high freq filtering I was suggesting.
The profile was near exact....
So Im not sure what problem you were having. -
Exactly, and you Bill, are the best programmer I have ever heard with the VG-99 - amazing tones you have produced! (Boss really should have hired you!)Thanks Radley!
It broke my heart when it fell through with Roland. -
VG-99 has some great amp sounds, but NOT out of the box.
If understood its capable of anything.
Its is difficult to program but once learned its a wonderful instrument.
Its totally up to the programer. -
Profiling just a distorted pre amp produces some very nasty ass upper end harmonics that are not listenable.
I wounder if the Kemper is not tuned to profile them.
You normally would never want it in your signal.
A better approach would be to profile you pre amp with some sort of cabinet simulation on and then remove the Kemper cabinet after the profile is done. -
I have used the VG-99 for several years and have found great amps sounds that work well in the studio.
I profiled them perfectly with the Kemper using the 1/4 guitar in.
I could NEVER match them with any other gear I have owned.
For my work it was imperative that I could have my VG-99 amp sounds.
When I was able to profile them it pushed me over the edge in love with the Kemper. -
Thank you!!!!!!!
These are great.
I add a cabinet and some compression and they are wonderful on guitar.
I love your UA 710d tube + profile.

Then after I save my profiles, I take them into the exchange and upload, using the upload as a way to 'clean up and enter' info on the profile. I HATE using the dials to put stuff in like location or cab type, etc - would rather wait until I get done and then do em on the exchange.
Pete I agree!
I do the tagging on line.
MUCH easier. -
I love them!
My danelectro and smoky battery amps are getting jealous that the Marshall's getting all the attention.
Could we edit the posts to reflect the collective futility of all my battery profiles?
But. Seriously. Use them if you like them, ignore them if not -
I am waiting for this profile!

"Sure, really bizarre sounds are sometimes cool, but am I *really* going to play a gig using a profiled Marshall battery amp?"
I am a studio player and Yes I have and do use sounds like the above.
I have used the Eventide Drive-Thru speaker sound on a hundred spots.
I for one welcome all new sounds.
Bring them all on. -
Revalver Valve King with till cabinet is up on the exchange.
Very dynamic touch sensitive amp! -
It reminds me of this:
