Raoul,
what did you go for in the end? Q12a? Let us know how you got on with it...

SpiritSeeker, did you try the Q12a direct into a non-powered KPA too? I'll be interested in how it compares to the Q12 + GT1000FX combo.
Only one guitar now and that's my custom built Suhr Standard. But a thousand sounds from the KPA
Had previously owned an Gibson Les Paul Custom, Ibanez Jem, Ibanez JPM, MusicMan JP6 but had to sell to finance the rest of my kit.
another happy HS80 user here. After endless research on audio forums and A/B testing in shops I went for the yammy's (via http://www.thomann.de/). I was tempted to get the sub but for me its not really required for my small home studio. Plenty of umph in these babies.
Sorry dude, Oudenaarde's just a little too far for me. But do drop a PM if you're ever in The Netherlands though...
I had a similar problem when I updated the KPA to FW1.6 (although I'm not convinced it was related). Mine is a Focusrite Scarlett (USB) 18i6 and the issue was that I wasn't seeing any S/PDIF signal being sent anymore from the KPA. And obviously it wouldn't lock either when seeing Sync Source to S/PDIF. It had been working fine for 6 months so I know the KPA settings are fine.
Anyway my fix was to complete uninstall the drivers and MixControl software (Windows 8 ), followed by deleting everything from Device Manager and the Program Files which I could find. Then reboot & re-install. Works like a charm now.
yeah, he did a great job.
original post is at Look inside the KPA and lets discuss a better form factor, with or without CK ;o)
bugger, that'l cost me another pair of shoes and a handbag to keep the wife quiet
+1 for slave and 48
LOL! Same here, I can't argue anymore when my wife buys shoes online. It's a small price to pay...
nice, I really enjoyed that!
So far I've experienced no s/pdif clicking with FW1.5. I use to get it often with 1.1.1 specially when enabling the stomps. So I'm happy
Weird thing I get though is the message 'Tuning Storage..." about 10 seconds after boot-up, even if I haven't changed anything. Had this with 1.1.1 too. Is it a feature or a bug?
awesome! "A-Trainwreck SRV" is the first rig my kemper loads when it fires up. All those AmpFactory profiles respond really well to guitar volume changes.
yeah, it's all auto-pilot. All the config is done on the interface side.
I'd love to connect my KPA to my power distributor so with one flick of the switch all my units (audio interface, midi floor controller, speakers etc) fire up and ready to rock. Except I'm worried about hard-stopping the KPA but killing the power. It seems when manually powering off unit using the 'chicken head' switch it does a graceful shutdown, and I don't want to inadvertently break anything. Anyone else doing something similar?
nice bit of nostalgia on a Sat night. Did you swap out out you axe fx for the KPA I'm wondering?
I couldn't hold out any longer either and went for the whole bundle yesterday. I've taken the day off and locked myself in my axe room with plenty of rations...
amazing tone, tight production, very pro. well done!
Im using C600 with Win 7 64bit ...
How's it working with the Kemper? Have you tried the s/pdif yet? Also curious to whether you managed to get those transport buttons mapped to any other DAW instead of ProTools...
I have a Focusrite 18i6 and I use the XLR outs rather than TRS for my interface. It turns out that the XLRs are +10 while the TRS is +4; the extra 6dB seems to be just the ticket for the Focusrite.
keno, you ever tried the s/pdif ouput from the KPA to your Focusrite 18i6? Just as a comparison when it comes to mixing & latency...
