And BTW this is how I understand the KEMPER. I can't believe that people go and sell out all their tube amps after the they got a Kemp. Doing different profiles from your amps is like taking snapshots of your kids while they grow ...

I recently played on an open air festival where the keyboarder of another band wanted to put his Fender Rhodes through my "guitar amp". But when he saw the KEMPER he was afraid. That's a pity, I would have loved to hear a Rhodes through my Kemp. Theoretically it should do well with all kinds of signals that benefit from the special sound coloration of a guitar amp. I have tested a few drum sounds...
You don`t need to mic the KEMPER - as this has already been done when you do the profiles.
When you record multiple layers you should switch the KEMPER to run in constant latency mode.
I do miss the size and form factor of my RP355.

The field where the KEMPER really excels is the really faithful recreation of your amp sound at it's sweet spot. There are also a lot of good effects which in general are really good to work with (some of them like the pure tuning pitch really excellent and unique in the market) but for those players who want to experiment with really the wildes setups of combinations of lots of different FX it might be not enough at a certain point when it comes to signal routing.
My personal opinion is, if the basic ampsound is good and expressive and flexible, then I can do with these restrictions in routing and FX linkage. And in this field, providing a good, basic ampsound, the KEMPER is just gorgeous! Anyway worth a try!

I want to plug a drumcomputer to the Auxiliary Input. In the Manual I read

then the Auxiliary Input will not work this way, since the inputs are needed for a different purpose.
But now here it is actually the other way round: when I activate the Loop I hear the drumcomputer nice as it should be, but when I deactivate it, all is silent no matter how much I turn up the control for Auxiliary Input in the Master Menue page 5. I even took the FX Loop completely out of the slot, but it didn't help.

Yes, that is English indeed. And it perfectly describes how I felt when I heard Stockhausen for the very first time. I was like 15 and these sounds were just so convincing to me. Our music teacher wanted to play us some example of how boring atonal music can be - and he totally failed, well in my case.
Get one of your band members (the drummer) who knows your sound to stand up front a little ahead of your gig and figure out what is lacking or is too hyped in your sound. When your set comes up, have a friend ask the sound man nicely to set everything appropriately, or if that fails, at least to set it all flat as possible.
1) A wireless can be very useful. You can hop off the stage and listen to yourself playing through the FOH and walk up to the soundman and talk yourself to him.
2) I found it useful to send two different signals to the mixer: one for FOH and another one that he returns to the musicians monitors. This allows me to have better control over the monitor sound. Many mixing desks in Clubs don't offer the quality of EQ that the KEMPER has in the Monitor Out section.
3) But above all I have to agree to what tenderboy wrote:
From my experience I can tell that a sound programmed on good studiomonitors in a proper room will translate well to most speakers you encounter in a live situation
The better (in terms of soundengineer craftsmanship) your profile is made, the less it looses it's substance in bad PA or suboptimal acoustic situations.
4) With all this technology inside the Kemper we should not forget how much you can influence the sound by choosing well the place and direction where on stage you put your amps.
I just placed an order for a DEQ2496 with a measurement mic in order to see how good this works. Will report back...

A friend got this KRK Ergo Studio Monitor Room Processor. And he was very dissapointed by the room correction funktion! He still uses it, but only as a monitor controller, not the room correction.
This sooner or later leads to the question of quoting from the original manuals. It does not really make sense to invent the wheel a second time with every description of what a WahWah or a Flanger is. Does it? But in order to take over text from the manuals it would need a "written permission of Kemper GmbH".

BTW: after my (short!!!) experience with this (expensive!!!) Peterson thing ( ) I really don't understand why so many want a strobe display. It is so fuzzy and nervous - I think it's fame just comes from older, analog units. But on a digital screen a strobe display is very unpleasant for the eye. I like the tranquil equilibrum of the Kemper's bubble much more!
