I was actually scared to post here for fear I'd jinx something. Now that I have, I'm sure I did. Watch the news for a UPS truck that blows up or drives into the ocean or something... it's bound to happen now that I've said it aloud.

Ladies and gentlemen... barring any more auction-related weirdness, post-sale, I am now the owner of an unpowered Kemper Profiler Rack model!!!! I'm super excited to join the ranks of all you amazing people, musicians, and barnyard animals! Thanks again for all the well-wishes and advice on what to do to get myself up and running once it DOES arrive at my doorstep.
Have an awesome day, kids!
FINALLY counting myself amongst the chosen ones, I remain,
Jeff in Houston
Thanks, gang! I'll certainly try to check some of these out once I purchase a unit. Tracking through the vids posted here, I'm not really hearing exactly what I am looking for.
Here are couple stems for what I'm looking for. Keep in mind that this first one has an acoustic in the mix, as well... but the basic tone is there for what I am looking for:
Or even better... this one starting around the 1:07 mark:
Thanks,
Jeff
Have you tried DJmass profiles??
Robman,
I haven't heard of that brand before. Is that something on the Rig Exchange or is it a commerical profiler? Please understand that I still don't own a Kemper, so I don't have access to listen to anything that isn't a posted video or audio recording by a given person/vendor. Thanks!
Regards,
Jeff
More importantly Jeff, when you getting your KPA??
LOL! I wish I knew. It really boils down to when I can find a used one for a price I'm willing to pay. Thus far, other than the one I got hosed on, I haven't found that magic unit. I'm a patient man when it comes to gear, and it's not like I have oodles of time to play these days, anyway, but I continue to hunt for one every day via the usual suspects.

I’m not a Dream Theatre expert but was that dur Ng his Triaxis Period? Their is a Triaxis pack which contains a lot of Petrucci inspired tones so that might be a good place to start.
Yes, Triaxis period, but to my ears, it's more about the TC Electronic Delay and Stereo Chorus and EQ-ing that really gives you that crisp 80's hair metal/90's crystalline clean tone that I love.
Thanks,
Jeff
Hey gang,
I'm still in full "compile a list of stuff to buy once I get my greedy hands on a Kemper" mode and was wondering if there are any profiles that do a good job of approximating (or nailing) Petrucci's clean tone from "Images and Words"? It's my ideal clean tone, so I'd love to have that in the arsenal once I get a profiler. Thanks for your thoughts!

Hey gang,
After the agony of having won and then lost a steal of a deal on a power rack model, I'm starting to wonder if it's not more cost savvy to try to score a non-powered version and then have Kemper (or an authorized retailer) ADD the power amp section to my unit. Does anyone know if this service is offered, or even possible?
Thanks,
Jeff in Houston
Unfortunately, my elation was premature, as after weeks of waiting for the insurance to come through, they still haven't made any headway on the claim. The seller has now refunded my money, so at least I'm not out the cash on top of not receiving the item. To make things worse, Uncle Sam wants the better part of left leg, firstborn, my cars, and my right nut in taxes, so the funds will go towards paying that down as opposed to indulging in my gearlust. Hopefully, I'll eventually be able to scrape together some cash and find another great deal to snag a Kemper, but for now, paying my taxes and keeping the house are the top priority.
Regards,
Jeff
At this point, having talked to the guy on the phone a couple times, I don't get the feeling I'm being jerked around. The guy is a legit session and gigging guitarist, endorsed by Ibanez and VHT amps, as well. He did say the studio owner told him if the Kemper is covered, he would order it and have it sent to him PRIOR to receiving the actual check from the insurance company. Thanks for the giving me something to think about, nightflight. I still feel like everything is on the up and up, but if I start to smell something less than truthful, I will jump on it right away.
Jeff
Minor update... the studio has filed an insurance claim for the damaged gear and such, but it's unclear if the Kemper will be covered since it was not the studio's, but rather owned by the guy I bought it from. I'm still crossing my fingers, toes, eyes, and legs that they come through for me, but we'll see.
I'm reminded of a Tom Petty song at this point, "The waiting is the hardest part..."
Jeff
Very cool! Congrats!
Insert “Welcome Back, Kotter” theme song here. ?
Yeah, it was a crazy good deal. I'm hoping the universe owes me one and it's covered by insurance or the studio offers to pay for a new one that he'll re-sell me once he gets it. Deals like this don't come along often.
