The Kemper is much like a tube amp. Luckily only sound-wise. The Kemper is much more reliable and should sound the same every time. It's a computer: it's either on or off, no fiddling around with voltage allowed.

Welcome! What kind of profiles do you use for those guitars?

Welcome from the Netherlands. My wife, who is a German drummer, is also a fan of "Die Ärzte". Nice to know Farin is using a Kemper also!

The way your setup is now, you could use the EQ to shape the power amp and cab to the way your S/PDIF signal sounds. Every power amp and cab have a different sound, so you could try to "null" those out.
With regard to the outputs, it's depending on how many cab's you are using. For one cab, you could use one of your main outs to go to the input (left) of the eq. Then the output of the eq (left) is connected to the input (left, again) of the cab. Then the left output of the power amp is connected to your cab. Maybe it's possible to turn the right channel off, so there won't be running a power amp without speaker load. You could also run the entire rig in stereo, using both main outs and two cab's. Especially for mod, delay and reverb, this could provide a lot of space in your sound.

Dennis, this question gets asked every so often here in the forum, and the "answer" is that it'd require a paradigm shift in the way the Kemper operates and some sort of peripheral-hardware addition, IMHO, so it's not something you'd expect to see from this particular product. If Kemper ever looked into this, I reckon it'd have to design a new piece of hardware.
Basically, Profiling relies on the Space Invaders™ audio stream's being sent through a device in order to be able to map the various ways in which it affects this known-quantity's properties. Sythesisers without oscillator inputs and most electric instruments cannot therefore be Profiled.
Seeing as others have suggested alternatives, I should mention the Line 6 Variax line. Anything from the Tyler Variax onwards uses the same updated DSP and models, and IMHO they're the best out there. Heaps of variety on-tap, including the usual suspects such as Tele, Strat and LP along with banjo, dobro, resonator, semi-acoustics, acoustics and sitar.
Welcome to the forum, mate.
Well, this got me thinking. In essence, the sound of the guitar is the way the output of the guitar reacts to vibrations of the string. So, in theory it would be possible to build a device that mimics playing the string, and listens to the output, the way the Profiler listens to the amp-cab-mic combo. A simpler version will be put on the pickup, emulating a vibrating string, discarding the resonance of a guitar itself. Engineers are called now!

Well, can't turn down a discount! I bought the Colonial pack too, I'm eager to play it, whenever I find the time. There is always less time than inspiration.

Happy birthday! You got your Kemper on the same day I got married, so we both get to enjoy a party!

Welcome, a brave move to sell your Real Amp! I've thought of it (own a '64 Fender and a Guytron), but couldn't bring myself actually putting them up for sale.

Thank you very much for sharing all of this. For everyone who is as blind as me: the zip file is called R_U_Sirius.zip, it's hidden between all the profiles

A small update for those who use the search function. I just tested the Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 with a 2017 MacBook Pro (usb-c to thunderbolt 2 and thunderbolt 2 to firewire 800 adapters), with an additional firewire 800 to 400 cable.
So, on the standard settings, with the Saffire as master, I get a firewire lock on all sample rates ranging from 44.1 to 192 kHz.
With the Kemper as master, I get a lock on 44.1 and 48 kHz. I couldn't get the word clock to lock at higher sample rates, so the output was crackling and everything. Then I discovered the "SPDIF as AES/EBU" function. I not sure what it does (please teach me, for I am ignorant), but it does the trick. I get a firewire lock on 88.2 and 96 kHz, with the firewire driver latency at short. Even the OctoPre syncs via ADAT!
So, all in all I'm a happy camper (Kemper) and I don't have to buy a new interface.

Thanks for the offer. Do these profiles also work with guitars that have a dual system, where the piezo is mixed with a (small) mix or other sensor?
-
Well, this sounds like fun! I'm not really sure if this will be useful in a band-setting. Maybe I can steal some pad-parts from the keyboardplayer
-
I'm not 100% sure, but is this a function that can be set with the lock button?
-
Thank you for the warm welcome. I knew it was a good idea to get involved after all. I posted a support ticket, so I hope I'll be able to join the discussion in the private forums soon. Actually, I can't wait. I don't have a Facebook or Twitter account, so I need my fair dose of social media from somewhere...
And: thanks for the wah settings, I will check them out soon!

Hi everybody, greetings from the Netherlands.
I have my Profiler for 6 years now, still wanted to introduce myself. I live in Holland and play the electric and acoustic guitar. I'm enjoying the profiles by Michael Britt and Bert Meulendijk a lot. I used to play with my own profiles (I own a Guytron amp), but they didn't turn out as nice as those from MB. Plus, one can't turn down a Klon.
One request I have: I can't seem to post anything on the private forums. I registered my Profiler a long way back, but does anybody know what went wrong?
Greetings,
Reinout Vrijhoef

Yes, I would like to know too! If I record via S/PDIF at 44.1 there are no problems, but at 88.2 I keep losing the lock with a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56. I'm recording now with an old MacBook Pro (2011) and Logic Pro X. My new laptop is in the shop (speaker problems), so I will be testing recording at 88.2 with that machine later. I'm thinking about upgrading the interface to a Focusrite Clarett 8Pre. Or does this interface have the same problems?

Today I was doing some recording with guitar and bass via the Kemper, and wanted to put the profiles I use the most in one performance. I did this (copied them all) and noticed a huge difference in volume. I already checked the clean sens and distortion sens, they are all at 0.0. Does anybody have any clue to what I'm doing wrong? I'm on firmware 3.0.2.
Also, I registered my KPA a long time ago, but I don't seem able to post anything in the private forums. Any help is greatly appreciated!
--- EDIT ---
I know what I'm doing wrong. In preformance mode the mono loop was locked. I used this with an external reverb a gig a loooong time ago, and forgot all about it. It is a serial loop, mix on 92%, so therefor all my volume was gone. I'm posting anyway, maybe this post will come up in a search sometimes and help someone else. -
Wow, this thread has become much longer than I had expected. And I am much wiser too! Thanks to everybody, who has contributed to this thread, not in the least to CK and lightbox. If I will be forced to work on 48 kHz, I know that a simple solution for €159 will solve everything. We'll see where it goes :-).

Yes, there are. If you haven't seen the following thread, add your vote(s).
Which features would you like to be added next?
Ah, great, I've added my votes. Good to see that more people want the looper also!
