Nice. Maybe add a few synth lead lines towards the end to make it really take off?

I hope AMT would finally launch their solid state 6L6 "tubes". Would make a real nice backup quad if they sound half decent.
-
Yeah I gathered that, just joking.
-
Lol.
Been waiting to say that, have you?
-
I uploaded two Mako Mak2 Dorado profiles I made with the same setup as the Dual Rec profiles.
Man, I really like how the cab sounds I saved from the Dual Rec Red Modern profile. Try it!
-
Couldn't he just profile the power amp + cab and then save the cab from that clean profile and use it with the profiles? (If I'm reading this correctly).
-
Engl Invader?
-
Ah, I think you're right.
I forgot to mention that the Fat Drive was running on 18V for these.
-
Thanks!
Yeah I think Celestion discontinued the 16 ohm version for some reason a few years back.

I've been using Behringer Truths with my KPA since Oct 2011.
I've plugged into KRK's in music stores a few times, the Behringers sound better, bigger, to my ears.Having said that, no one will believe me because the word "Behringer" is not as popular as the word "KRK".
Was this the Rokit series or the VXT? Rokit = chinese mdf crap, VXT = very good chinese crap.
Seriously, it's like Squier vs. Fender in terms of sound quality. I used to own Rokit5's and have VXT4's now.
But the Truths are good for the money I give you that. But since op's budget is more towards $1200 a pair, I'd go with Neumann KH120's or Adam A7X's.

UPDATE 5:
Rectifier uberscoop (1-4), Rectifier scooped (1-4)I made these with pretty much the same setup as the "4" batch, but with less midrange, boost and no boost profiles, and bold/diode and spongy/tube rectified.
All of them are on the modern red channel.
Tip: For a smoother top end, just dial the presence back. Or put a graphic eq after the amp, with the 10kHz slider all the way down.

RACKTO2I5CENTER
RACKTO I5CENTER<<<I forgot to upload this one, now it's online.
RACKTO257CENTER (imo the best, get this if you only get one)
RACKTO 57CENTER
RACKTO2I5EDGE (2nd favorite, clearer, modern)
RACKTO I5EDGE
RACKT257EDGE
RACKTO 57EDGE (my least favorite, too muffled)This time I tried something different, I used my Golden Age Project Pre-73 mic pre instead of going straight into the KPA. I also did some dead center mic positions.
How to read the profile names: *amp name* *2=less mids, more bass* *I5=Audix i5, 57=SM57* *mic position*.
I think the better preamp did wonders, probably my best profiles yet, imo. There's a lot more presence and cut, without a need for post eq. You might want to cut some >10 kHz though, there is some fizz there. (I added a graphic eq to do this to some of the profiles).

I tried to get as close to the Surtur Rising album tone as possible by using only the eq from the KPA:
https://soundcloud.com/nakedzen/amon-amarth-kemper-tone-testProfile is tweaked for Duncan Blackouts, so ymmv.
UPDATE2: (RACKTO MORE OD9 57B and MAKO 57 PROFILES)
I put some more Mako profiles on the exchange, had some free time today.
I played around with the Freak knob, which on positions 1 & 2 cuts
mids, on 3 it's bypassed and 4 and above it boosts high mids and cuts
highs and lows. Also added one Mesa profile as a bonus, which I think is the best one yet of my Mesa profiles.
A quick tone test (different guitar than any of my other clips, so it's not a very good comparison):
https://soundcloud.com/nakedzen/mesa-racktifier-profile-toneWith the same guitar as the other clips:
https://soundcloud.com/nakedzen/kemper-rackto-more-od9-57bIf you're going for a metal rhythm tone, get the F2B of the Mako profiles. Anything above 4 on the freak switch starts to get too dark and middy for anything else but leads.
Clip:
http://www.tonefinder.com/?section=id&value=14400UPDATE: More Racktifier profiles on the exchange. (RACKTO MOOR, RACKTO MORE)
Amp was dialed in for a cutting loud live tone, so the profiles sound very raw and thin at low volumes and through headphones.
They worked great through my FRFR actives when played obnoxiously loud. A lot better than any other profile I've tried, the muffled high end and overly bassy low end are gone, that I was suffering from before.
Mics used were SM57, SM7B, Audix i5 and a Beyerdynamic M201TG. Amp was boosted with a Maxon OD9 this time.
Clip with the Modern Red SM57 profile:
https://soundcloud.com/nakedzen/dual-racktifier-kemperClip with the Modern Red Audix profile:
https://soundcloud.com/nakedze…racktifier-kemper-profileTo make them more suited for low volume playing swap the cab for Tills Mesa 009 (my fav).
Want to know more about equal loudness? Consult the Fletcher-Munson curves. In case anyone is wondering, this is how it works:
QuoteAt 60dB (music listening volume), the low end (100Hz) needs to be 20dB louder than the midrange (1kHz region) to appear to have an equal loudness.
At 100dB (live band), the low end needs to be 5dB louder than the midrange to appear to have an equal loudness.
Meaning, the low end (~100Hz) needs to be cut 15dB for live applications so that your tone doesn't sound bassy and muffled.

(RACKTO RED MOD, RACKTO ORG VIN, RACKTO FATRED, RACKTO ORG FAT)
I just uploaded a few profiles of my new 2-chan Dual Racktifier. I used the red and orange channels (bold, diodes, 6L6), unboosted and boosted with a Pigtronix Fat Drive, which is a transparent od pedal with a ton of output.
The cab I used was a Matamp Retro 2x12 with a Celestion G12K100 and an SM57 on the edge of the dust cap.
Settings on the red channel were (o'clock)
Modern mode, master 9, pres 1, bass 2, mids 3, treble 12, gain 12 (boosted) gain 2 (unboosted)Fat Drive (1-10):
Gain 0, Tone maxed (ie. bypassed), Level 7, "less" modeI cant remember the orange channel settings, except that it was on vintage mode, sorry.
Settings for the Mako: (o'clock)
preamp 12, gain 12, bass 10, mid 1.30, treble 12, freak bypassed, ch vol 11, pres 9, deep 3, sub 2, master 3Fat Drive (1-10):
Gain 0, Tone maxed (ie. bypassed), Level 10, "less" modeA really quick clip of the Mesa, no post eq apart from a high pass. This is the Red ch. w/boost:

I agree. This is kinda crappy for us that bought the lunchbox with hopes to put an inexpensive solid state amp in the back. Even the "camplifier" is way too expensive for what it is.
There is a solution for that though.
I'll need to try some day how my EHX Magnum sounds powering the KPA. Granted it's not exactly the same shape as the space in the back, but it fits in there.
-
Thanks for this! I really like the feel of this profile.
-
Nice! Something sounds out of balance in the mix though, maybe the snare is too loud?
-
Thanks man! I noticed I had forgotten to turn my antivirus off for the recording, which was the reason for the latency. duh.

I used Teck's Mesa Roadster profile for this as well.
-
When playing with a band with a frfr monitor, do you guys feel that you have to dial almost all of the low end out of the KPA?
Just wondering if it's my monitors or just characteristic of the profiles. I'm using a dB Technologies Opera 410D.

Steinberg UR28M http://www.soundonsound.com/so…icles/steinberg-ur28m.htm
UR824 http://www.soundonsound.com/so…icles/steinberg-ur824.htm
I can vouch for the preamps, I have an MR816X myself.
If you want to go cheap, and are only going to use the Kemper with it, I can also recommend the ESI U24XL that I use for home use. It seems to have a pretty good sound quality. Doesn't have midi though. Neither does the UR on a second thought. But to get midi you can just buy a $10 midi to usb converter off amazon?

" Space parameter in Master/Output Section enhances the Master Stereo signal by a short room simulation (Headphone and Main output)What exactly does this mean? Does it just essentially add a short room reverb to the output?
thanks
Convolution reverb maybe? At least those are usually used as room simulations.

I don't play djönt, but anything tuned low and with the green screamer up front gets that meshuggah type sound.
Here's some studio eq settings that would accentutate that even more:
Low gain -14dB, Low fr 40
High gain +10dB, High fr 3000
Mid gain -4dB, Mid fr 800, Mid Q 3.0ymmv, I'm using these with the Mak4 Dorado profile of FRPC and SD Blackouts.
