Petrucci's tone was always better in the early years circa I&W/SFAM.

Goldfinger for the win!

Konstantin. Outside of th free djemass and Thumas mark profiles I'd try the choptones mark V ch3 pack. Closest to the Petrucci sound I've come across. Namely because they mic up jst like petrucci does.
I think SS excels at Marshall based sounds like the bogner, suhr and marshal plexi. Those are my favourite SS profiles (inc the vh4)
I will try the TAF version. There are some jems in his packs. The JCM hot mod is up there with the best for me.
-
Soundside and TAF are a little different in approach. My favourite profiles are a mix from both but I think the Goldfinger 45, SS version, is the single greatest profile going IMO.
-
will you be profiling anymore Bogners?? Perhaps the new Helios?
-
what was the deal with that rebate kemper offered? Does anyone remember.

I have the toaster which I love for studio use. Had the rack been an option at the time id probably had gone that route for versatility in the gigging dept. I still prefer the look of the toaster but i think id make to much loss selling it to buy the rack unless i had a direct trade. In a perfect work id have a rack as well just for gigging but that day is not here yet

although the KPA struggles to tune that low B i really think its down to being a cheaper £250 bass!!
-
My 4 string squire sounds much better than my 5 string. Both are cheap.
-
I tried very hard to replicate my el cap tape delay on its basic setting using the Kpa and it just couldn't keep up. Not that I'd expect it to! That would be some deal for the Kpa. I agree with Guenter , more than serviceable effects but I think anybody really serious about the quality and variation would ultimately look for dedicated effects boxes/studio plugins

Sorry the Soundcloud website has been playing up for me lately. No idea why.
This should do it:
-
I'm using different profiles each side. There's a high and low pass on the guitars, just the logic one. VCC is my first insert and that's it. The delay on lead is EchoBoy dirt echo preset and it's boosted with a Modded TS9 for extra mids.
-
Sorry Guenter, i meant that there was a tape mode missing on the TL version not sound quality. I could be wrong though, I'm going from memory here.
Sounds like a ridiculous trio. I must admit i quite fancy the Flint.
Have you any opinions on the Eventide H9?

Here's a short demo of them i did. Im not a mixer, its all very basic moves and this is only a demo so I don't want to spend ages crafting it. Anyway, it shows the profiles in another context

If theres any major problems with the mix then let me know and ill tweak it.

Cheers Guenter.
Yes at the moment I'm going in the loop mono with my El Cap. Im not quite sure how to set it up with stereo if I'm honest. Do i nned two cables or one stereo cable?? Either way, it still sounds good and the reason i kept it over the Timeline was because IMO the tape delay section wasn't as strong as on the El Cap (obviously a few features are missing) and thats the mode i wanted to use 70% of the time. I figured id stick with the dedicated Tape Delay. DOnt get me wrong though, the Timeline was and is a fantastic unit, i guess i just didn't want a £400 pedal barely doing anything.
My friend who is a fine guitarist and has some really top end gear really loves the Mobius. Im scared to try it out!!
-
Used to have one. Great but too much choice for me lol. I still have my el cap but I might trade it in for the eventide h9....
Anyhow, for some reason I'm failing to understand your connections, so your going to which Kpa output? The main outs?
Why this over the loop?

The profiles are great. It's all channel 3 and there's a good mix of metal profiles. I tried them with my jp6 and an ibanez with emgs and worked great on both. (I'm not an active fan but those emgs do record well!)
My review was based on the profiles through my studio. Guitars - Kpa - A7X. The profiles sat well in logic with both ezdrummer 2 and ssd 4 drums. I need to experiment more but it's going to work. As far as the mix in the video - I didn't pay much attention. My mini review is from my experience in my home studio. I'll record a demo if people want but I'm a player not a mixer and I'm not a fan of these modern metal mixes with 6505s quad tracked everywhere. So bare that in mind!
All I can say here is I use Mesa and these are the best so far by a long shot. The free ones aren't an accurate representation of how I like to set a Mesa amp up. These profiles are much closer and are the only ones using the right mics. Anyway, Getting a good mix is down to way more than just profiles. The sooner everyone on this forum understand that mixing is an entirely different skill set the better!
Anyway. Long say at work. I'll probably have to edit this tomorrow!
-
Well i bought them and they are the best metal mark V profiles going. Some of them sound amazing. I have a lot of commercial profiles (from everyone bar sinmix) to compare and a real Mark IV with a Mesa 4x12 to compare them with.
Two things for improvement would be the naming convention. Not much information in it (i.e settings) but more than that i can't even read the numbers because it won't fit on the screen. A simple edit with rig manager perhaps but I'm a mac guy. Not a big deal, just a hassle.
Secondly yeah it would be good to know what was used with each profile regarding amp setting (even if its just modes and boosting/cab options) I know my favourite already but id like to know if they are what i think they are for geeks sake
Anyway, like i said small change there. Profiles sound mint!!
-
Sweet.
Finally all the right mice/cabs and pedals to profile a Mark V.
Ill have to give it a try

so is there much difference between the Original pink taco and the one in the recording pack??
