Welcome!
The 1/4" Outputs work fine, too.

Thanks!
Both the touch sensitive version and the pedal-controlled version are available on the Rig Exchange.
For best results with the touch sensitive version, you may need to adjust the filter for your playing dynamics and the pickup strength of your guitar.

Do you have Reverb or Delay turned on?
The type of room you are in can make a difference, too.

Two guitars into any single input amplifier (including the Kemper) will make both of them sound bad, compared to what one guitar sounds like plugged into it.

Although Graham's preferred style of music has nothing to do with Metal, his advice translates to all genres. He knows his stuff.

Hey Don,
Maybe a dumb question, but I am not afraid
Would it be possible for anyone to parameter a profile they would have chosen in advance instead of the CK01 as the default rig ? That means anyone could get the tone they want at only 13 seconds.+1 to this idea, if a User Definable Default Rig would not require a fundamental change in coding. If a big deal, no worries. There has only been a power issue in 1 out of 250 Kemper gigs for me - it was the other side of the stage, but I shut down in case my side also went down while they corrected the problem.

TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER: Agreed - perfection is in the details. But, only you can decide which details are the deciding factor between any two products.
If sounding and feeling perfectly like YOUR own personal tube amp, (or, sounding and feeling like really well-mic'ed examples of other people's amps), the Kemper is the only product that can do that. The Marshall Silver Jubilee profiles I made for live use sound (to me) exactly like my Jubilee does when it is mic'ed with an SM57 and /or a 57 and a large diaphragm condenser mic.
After 250 or so Kemper gigs, I can still plug in my Marshall at home, and still not think it sounds better that the tone I get live with the Kemper. Having all these other sounds that the Marshall could not make is a big bonus at gigs, and for recording.
Rig switching time can be anticipated to happen exactly on the beat (Like I do many times with an acoustic sound and a synthy sound everytime we play our uptempo version of "You Can Call Me Al"). It just takes some practice to press the button a little early If you use your guitar volume knob (or a boost stomp) for solos, instead of changing rigs, you may not switch sounds as often as the people who see 250ms as an issue. Or, it may depend on your genre. 250ms is 1/8 note at 120bps (dance tempo), a dotted 16th at 90bps.
If you want to experiment with Cabinet Impulses, both products have ways of doing it. If you change the cab in a Kemper profile to the cab from another Kemper profile, you will get musically-useful results that sound like switching the real cabinets would sound.
"Two amps at once" is an attractive concept (if you run a stereo rig onstage AND every Sound System is run in stereo on your circuit) - I had it in the Vetta and in the VG-99. It helped both products sound harmonically more interesting, but did not make either one of them sound or feel more like a tube amp, or like two of them at once.

Thanks for posting these, and extra thanks for having the idea of simulating a Varitone!

I think you would want the phantom power ground to be separate from the MIDI cable shield, so you would need two conductors for MIDI, two conductors for Phantom Power, in addition to the cable shield.
Have you looked at the Hugeracksinc.com forum? Those people do a lot of custom cables for pedalboards.
Here is one about using 7-pin XLR for MIDI cables:

Beautiful work!

Welcome, from another Ohio-based '80s band guitarist:)

This is great! I just got one of these pedals (Sam Ash had them for $259) and was hoping to use it this way. How did you connect it to the KPA?
-
Yes, you can use mic/xlr cables, if you build MIDI to xlr adapter cables.

Thanks for posting the rigs, but the links aren't working to the the clips.
Soundcloud is also reporting " cannot find this user" for harpia-productions.

Here is a guess: When you exit Rig Manager, clicking the X on the upper right corner of the window does not allow it to save the database.
If you use "File", "Exit" to close the program, it should save the database, and only load new rigs when you reopen the program.

Disclaimer: I haven't read every post on this thread so forgive me if this has already been said.
That is a cool tone, but consider this when trying to get that same tone from any device...not just a Kemper:
-That appeared to me to be recorded from a camcorder or iphone etc. with him close to both the camera and the amp.
-If that's the case, realize that the sound and brightness/twang of the strings is probably being picked up by the mic along with the amp itself. This can make a rather noticeable difference. Don't believe me? Record your Kemper at low volume to where you're hearing your strings and the tone coming from the monitors. Then play back the audio. That string sound wasn't recorded and a little of what you thought was cool is gone.
-The angle that the camera/mic appears to be is similar to that which guitarists are used to hearing jamming in the room. The kemper's profiles generally aren't done with mics in that position. I'm sure there are exceptions.that being said, it's a nice tone indeed.
If you find that sparkle lacking, you can try mixing in some direct guitar sound in the Amp section.

ESPECIALLY if the four pedals are assignable PER RIG I suggest Pedal Setups could be saved as User Presets, too.
