I've made 2 profiles for you to try. Gods Love GR5 and Gods Love GR5 2. The first is just one refinement, the 2nd is 2 refinements. For some reason the 2nd one is a bit duller sounding, but, I uploaded it incase someone finds it useful. Both have delay and reverb effects on, but, they've not been tweaked much.

I think my 2 profiles sound much closer to the original song (especially the first one), but, isn't neccessarily everyone's cup of tea due to it's "digital" nature. It also seems to be a bit noisy when you're not playing.

You could improve these further by adding wah, but, that's up to you how you use (or don't) them. I have checked the quality with my Jem 555 and they sound pretty close tbh.

Also, this isn't anywhere near the quality of Vai.God, because that profile sounds awesome on it's own and should be considered the go-to profile if you actually want to play a realistic amp profile. My profile is only really FTLOG use.

Anyway, try it, tweak it and see what you think. Thanks.

This same irritating sound was p*ssing me off when I first got my Kemper only a few weeks ago. My original kemper firmware on 25/04/2013 was 1.6.1.8285.

It did my fuckin head-in. Upgrading to 1.7 seemed to fix the issue.

You're not limited to just other boxes. Right now I'm profiling PC software vst plugins like GR5. I'm still learning, but, the results are very quick hehe and pretty close tbh. Close enough to use straight away after 1st refinement. Just remember to turn all fx and spacial stuff off like reverb, delay and air kind of stuff.

Before finding the culprit this problem can also change everyday depending on surroundings and what profiles you play with. Sometimes the problem isn't there, sometimes it's bad. Throughout my own testing of this problem I only used headphones.

As for your monitors, it's probably similar grounding issues. If it's gone, then, something must have changed. Anyway, hope you solve your problem. I did and I'm happy with my Kemper for recording now.

I battled this problem from the first day I got my kemper. I can hear exactly the same problem I had and no, it's not normal because the noise is always there. The noise gate can silence the signal, but, the noise remains during any playing. This noise you will find also affects note sustain, as if the noise "eats" the note away. Infact, even a few demo recordings at places like The Amp Factory exhibit this problem. You will realise the difference when you finally solve this noise problem and you finally hear the full Kemper sound, especially on clean profile sounds where notes are more likely to be sustained. To test whether you have this problem just play and hold a chord or note. If you don't hear the full length decay of the sound, then, it's likely the same problem discussed here.

    List of things I tried;

    1. Push grounding switches in at the back of the kemper. Test different combinations to see if it helps.
    2. Disconnect all other electrical devices especially laptop power-supplies. If you have multiple people with laptops in the house, then, try waiting until everyone has gone and disconnect them all. Internet routers can also add noise.
    3. Use power conditioners, preferably 2 together in serial and connect the kemper to the last one in the chain. I use 2x Lindys power conditioners (they have 6 sockets each).
    4. Try using different power plugs, 2 pin, 3 pin with a travel adapter and see if that helps.
    5. Move as far away from your electrical equipment as possible with your guitar during recording/playing. Even try turning away from your gear and see if it helps.
    6. Use high-quality leads like Monster Cable. I found when I had this noise problem I could also hear faint radio signals. Leads make a difference when you have this problem.
    7. If you have to power your laptop/pc, then, plug the power-supply/cable directly into the main socket, don't use extension cables at all for these pieces of hardware.
    8. Turn the light off in your room.
    9. Disconnect all unnecessary USB devices especially hard-drives. Even USB soundcards can add noise, but, this is hard to fix apart from moving as far away from it as possible.
    10. Turn LCD/Monitor/TV/Radio off especially during recording.
    11. If your soundcard has a grounding screw, then, connect a grounding cable (green and yellow one) to it along with a plug (cable is connected to ground only) and plug it into the mains, but, leave the mains switch off! Do not try this with power on, it doesn't work!

Hope that helps you find your problem. Good luck!

Yeah, exactly how much ram does the Kemper have anyway? Would've been sweet to make it upgradable lol.

As for Tony McKenzie, I actually don't know who he is, but, I did come across his site and reviews before I bought my Kemper. His points about the forum situation did infact put me off the competitor product. I hope things here will be as "free" and "open" as N.I. forums.

No! Got a roland cube and plenty of PCs and a KPA and a couple of tube amps for sale. But I really like the idea. And as a GAS junkie one can still can look at the pictures - no Need to get the StuffIt! Just Amp porn 8o

I honestly think my Kemper sounds awesome with Cube 20xl through the amp's aux-in.

I used all bridge pickup, that was a mistake aswell as it should have been neck pickup, which is why 2nd note is wrong lol cause I looked down to check pickup sound hearing it was wrong. The original starts with neck pickup. My peavey doesn't have a trem n at the time I was too lazy to get the jem555 out. The closest I've got to the sound is using guitar rig 5 and it's preset called God's Love.

i have good news. "christoph kemper" (is it a joke or what?)
has uploaded a rig, which has got 5 stars and is good. its name is VAI.GOD
i have used it to record the first 2 choruses of the song here
at least this is a beginning. there are some frequencies that disturb me nevertheless with my pickup.
maybe because i dont have a neck pickup? any ideas how to improve this one for my guitar?

What guitar are you using? I had a quick test last week with the profile when it was released. Sorry for all the mistakes (it's all one big mistake lol!!!) I haven't played it in 3 years (and even then I wasn't that good). I used my Peavey Custom Signature (dual humbuckers) fixed bridge. It might be a bit too trebly, but, you get the idea. I also used Kemper reverb, but, no wah (and no skill lol). http://soundcloud.com/user8278…r-the-love-of-god/s-VHjFA :whistling:
