    Rejoice! It's New Profile Day!!!

We're happy to announce our new pack for the Kemper Profiling Amplifier. This pack seeks to recreate the sound of Paul Gilbert's Lee Jackson modded Marshalls. These amps were used by Paul to record the first two Racer X albums.

This pack is so cool!! We meticulously duplicated the tone used on the first two Racer X albums. If you've got the chops, you can sound just like Paul! If not, you can still sound like Paul playing rhythm (I'm in this group). ;) Also included are our own profiles using our three favorite speakers for a wide range of great aggressive rock tones. No clean tones from these amps. These profiles sound HUGE!

Amps Used During the Profiling Process: Paul's 1974 50W and 1975 100W Lee Jackson modded Marshall heads

Speakers Used During the Profiling Process: 1967 Celestion 20W Greenback, 1970 Celestion 25W Greenback, Celestion Vintage 30 (Mesa version)

    Gain Range (Scale: 0 to 10): 6 to 8

    Profile Type: Studio, Merged

    Hey Kemper Family,

We're happy to announce our new pack, the Lynch Pack. This pack seeks to recreate the sound heard on George Lynch's classic albums with Dokken and Lynch Mob during the years 1983 - 1992.

Amps Used During the Profiling Process: 1974 Marshall Super Lead, 1980s Randall RG-80, Tim Caswell AFD-Modded 1978 Marshall Super Lead, Soldano SLO-100, Reissue 1967 Marshall Super Lead

    Speakers Used During the Profiling Process: 1967 Celestion 20W 75Hz Greenback, 1970 Celestion 25W 75Hz Greenback, 1970 Celestion 25W 55Hz Greenback, Vintage Celestion G12-65, 1970 Celestion G12-H 30 55Hz Greenback

    Gain Range (Scale: 0 to 10): 0 to 6

    Profile Type: Studio, Merged

George is one of the most important of the 1980s rock gods. He's still active today, but we stopped with his 1992 Lynch Mob album (we had to stop somewhere or we'd never finish!). The pack includes Marshalls, a Soldano, and even a solid-state Randall rig (sounds killer). The rigs all sound significantly different from one another because George never used the same combination of drive pedal, amp and speaker twice. This pack contains a wide range of absolutely killer rock tone.

    Hey Kemper Fans,

We just released the Top Jimi "Slash" Pack for the Kemper Profiling Amplifier (42 profiles)!

This pack seeks to recreate the sound heard on Slash's albums with Guns 'N Roses, Slash's Snakepit, Velvet Revolver and Slash's solo projects.

Amps Used During the Profiling Process: Tim Caswell AFD-Modded 1978 Marshall Super Lead, #34-Modded Marshall JCM 800, 1982 Marshall JCM 800, 1987 Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555, Mesa/Boogie Mark V (Izzy)

Speakers Used During the Profiling Process: 1970 Celestion 25W Greenback, Modern Celestion 25W Greenback, Vintage Celestion G12-65, Celestion Vintage 30, Electro-Voice EVM12L (Izzy)

    Gain Range (Scale: 0 to 10): 0 to 7

    Profile Type: Studio, Merged

With his Les Paul and wall of Marshalls, Slash has been an icon in the guitar world since 1987. To cover his career to date required several specific Marshall amp and speaker combinations. For fun, we also included Izzy Stradlin profiles for the first two GNR albums. This pack is so widely usable it may very well become the basis for your rock profile collection.

Please Note: Obviously, the guitar is a very important part of the signal chain, and differences between guitars will affect the tone. We used Jimi's 1954 Les Paul Goldtop with original 1950s PAFs as a neutral reference to build the profiles. If your guitar has a fuller tone, we recommend increasing the Treble and Presence together. Try increasing them both by 0.3 and see how that sounds. If your guitar is bright, try reducing the Treble and Presence by 0.3 and go from there.

    Album Tones Profiled:

Guns 'N Roses: Appetite for Destruction ('87), Use Your Illusion ('91), The Spaghetti Incident ('93)

    Slash's Snakepit: It's Five O'Clock Somewhere ('95), Ain't Life Grand ('00)

Velvet Revolver: Contraband ('04), Libertad ('07)

Slash: Slash ('10), Apocalyptic Love ('12), World on Fire ('14), Living the Dream ('18)

    Hey Kemper Fans,

We're happy to announce the availability of the new Top Jimi '66 Plexi JT45 Pack for the Kemper Profiler (86 profiles)

    Demo Video

Seeking to Recreate the Sound of: original 1966 Marshall Plexi JTM45 (30 Watts)

Speakers Used During the Profiling Process: 1964 Celestion Blue, 1967 Celestion 20W Greenback, 1970 Celestion 25W Greenback

    Gain Range (Scale: 0 to 10): 0 to 6

    Profile Type: Studio, Merged

We went all out on this pack, and it's a big one! Only vintage speakers with original Pulsonic cones were paired with a pristine original 1966 JTM45. I'm extremely proud of these profiles. The multiple speakers and amplifier channels make for a wide array of organic, vintage tones from cleans to mild breakup to sweet overdrives. I find them to be very inspiring. They just make me want to sit down and play guitar.

1966 Marshall Plexi JTM45 Info: This 1966 JTM45 is essentially the same as the first Marshalls, which were mostly copies of the 1959 Fender Bassman. The reference amp for these profiles was an all-original (with the exception of a couple biasing resistors) 1966 JTM45 . Differences from the Bassman include a 12AX7 preamp tube instead of a 12AY7, a different feedback circuit, and Celestion speakers in a closed-back cabinet. This 30W amp features (2) KT-66 output tubes and (3) 12AX7 preamp tubes. The amp has Normal and Treble channels, but placing a jumper between the two channel inputs gives the equivalent of a third channel with additional gain.

My understanding is the Kemper Kab is an FRFR cab, much like plugging into a PA or studio monitors. If that's the case, you'd want to use the studio profiles and leave the cab on.

    Hi,

The demo was recorded guitar direct into Kemper direct in the DAW using SPDIF. The Strat in the demo is loaded with a Lindy Fralin Blues Special in the bridge and the standard Custom Shop Strat pickups in the middle and neck. The Blues Special takes a little of the top end ice-picky bite out of the stock Strat sound. Otherwise nothing special.

The Kemper is an extremely powerful tool with a ton of options to alter the tone any way you choose. My Kemper is at factory settings for everything in order to make the profiles the most widely usable for the largest number of people. Unfortunately it's possible one setting somewhere is making your setup different from mine.

I always recommend, when people are having trouble getting the tones of the demos, to save off any profiles they want to keep and then do a factory reset. That way we're using the same settings.

    Hope that helps,

    Jimi

    Hi All,

I needed to make a long-overdue YouTube video for this pack and while I was at it, I "remastered" the EQ settings and adjusted the reverbs, both to better match the sounds on their recordings. The base profiles are the same as what you already have.

Those who've purchased since fall 2019, when we moved to our new website provider, received an automated update email. Unfortunately our old website didn't provide this functionality, so no automated emails were sent.

I'll go through past purchases from the old system and send an email with a free update to everyone who purchased prior to fall 2019 or bought as part of a bundle.

    Thank you,

    Jimi

    Hi,

The Soundcloud clips were taken down due to copyright. Soundcloud is really strict with copyright stuff. YouTube is less strict in that rather than just take the video down, the monetize it for the copyright holder and leave the video up. So, I'm planning to do a video for this pack soon to replace the Soundcloud files.

    Thank you,

    Jimi

Announcing the Top Jimi Ozzy Pack for the Kemper Profiling Amplifier (48 profiles)

Seeking to recreate the sound heard on the recordings of the hard rock artist Ozzy Osbourne

Amps/Pedals Used During the Profiling Process: Various vintage Marshall heads, MXR Distortion+, MXR 10-Band EQ, Boss OD-1 Overdrive, Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive

    Speakers Used During the Profiling Process: 12" Altec Lansing 417, 12" Electro-Voice EVM12L, 12" Celestion Creamback 65

Min to Max Gain Range (Scale: 0 to 10): 0 to 8

    Profile Type: Studio, Merged

Comments: This pack contains the tones of Ozzy's three most important guitarists -- Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, and Zakk Wylde. Here's your chance to rock to Ozzy with an amazingly accurate guitar tone. Even if you're not a big Ozzy Osbourne fan, this pack contains a wide array of fantastic hard rock guitar tones. All aboard!!!

Please Note: Obviously, the guitar is a very important part of the signal chain, and differences between guitars will affect the tone. We used Jimi's 1954 Gibson Les Paul Standard (modified with original 1950's Gibson PAF pickups) as the reference to build the profiles. There will very likely be differences in tone between your guitar and the reference guitar. If your guitar has a fuller tone, we recommend increasing the Treble and Presence together. Try increasing them both by 0.3 and see how that sounds. If your guitar is bright, try reducing the Treble and Presence by 0.3 and go from there.

    Tones Included in this Pack:

Randy: Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman, Tribute

Jake: Bark at the Moon, Ultimate Sin, Badlands

Zakk: No Rest for the Wicked, Live 1989, No More Tears, Ozzmosis, Down to Earth, Live at Budokan, Black Rain

Demo below recorded with a Kemper using the Ozzy Pack and drums/bass/vocal backing tracks found on YouTube.

We're happy to announce the availability of a new profile pack for the Kemper Profiling Amplifier -- the "Queen" Pack from our Legendary Tones series. These profiles seek to recreate the sound heard on the recordings of the rock band Queen.

Speakers Used During the Profiling Process: Celestion Alnico Blue

Min to Max Gain Range (Scale: 0 to 10): 0 to 7

    Profile Type: Studio, Merged

Comments: Brian May from Queen crafted what may be the most instantly-recognizable guitar tone anywhere. His rig is sinple, but the microphone techniques required to mimic the studio tones are not. Even if you aren't a Queen fan, plugging your guitar into Brian May's rig gives the biggest AC30 tone you've ever experienced. So much fun to play!

We used a Red Special from Brian May Guitars as the reference to build the profiles. We've also included profiles which have been EQ'd for use with Gibson-style P90 pickups and Fender-style single coils.

We're happy to announce the availability of a new profile pack for the Kemper Profiling Amplifier -- the "Phil 100" Pack. These profiles seek to recreate the sound of a Friedman Phil X Signature head (100 Watts).

Speakers Used During the Profiling Process: Celestion Vintage 30, 1970 Celestion 25W Greenback, 1967 Celestion 20W Greenback
Min to Max Gain Range (Scale: 0 to 10): 2 to 8
    Profile Type: Studio, Merged

Comments: To me, these profiles are tonally somewhere between a modded 80's Marshall and a more modern sound. More gain available than vintage amps. These profiles work equally-well with humbucker or single-coil pickups. This pack is a really cool blend of vintage and modern tones.

Friedman Phil X Signature Background Info: The amp is a 100-Watt, single channel, EL34-powered tone machine. The amp features three selectable preamp gain/tone voicings and a selectable 120V/90V power supply switch (acts like a VARIAC).
