just picking one at random really haven't had time to play through much of this pack yet, but no duds, lots of studs.

on the mark ii - iv theres a pre-gain volume, so both need to be turned up to get full saturation. Then the eq knobs are also pre gain so if you have them low enough you wont get enough oomph. But you also need to set them right for the guitar and sound you want. The mark v is easier because it ditches the pre gain volume knob but the eq is still important.
Rectos definitely need a boost to get a tight sound but should have quite a bit of gain on the red channel.
-
mark v not enough gain? Something aint right there

Here's a clip where I'm shredding just as hard as nll

Did you open it up and disable the built in noise gate?

went to see the hendrix experience last night and very inspired to play some single coil leads. Anyway, recorded a quick clip of cili's jvm. Od1 orange into the marshall cab with g12h speakers:

my advice is to test after each time you tighten and tighten only a small amount at a time. If you have to force at all to move it, you may pop those screws off the axle.
-
my screw is now relatively loose but im comfortable with the tension. If you cant turn anymore, something is wrong. It should be extremely tight before reaching that point.
One thing i noticed is that you can get the pedal to stay in position by tighting the axle screws while the pedal is slid as far to the right or left as possible. So rather than the friction method being the plastic grip thats adhered to the base and the screws that connect to the pedal, its simply the edge of the pedal grinding against the base.
So maybe thats whats going on for you. See if its grinding off paint on one side.
-
word of caution. Dont overtighten the big screw in the back for more grip on the pedal. If you do and try to rock the pedal, it grips the axle stronger than some screws that grip the axle to the pedal (rather than the base). It gets difficult to explain how it all works, but the point is if you want more grip, test after each quarter turn and dont expect to be able to get to very tight. Youll end up with a completely floppy pedal and have to take it apart to fix it

got mine in today. I dont find it too big. Its heavy but not ridiculous. I really like the build and feel.

just make it happen before we all drown in saliva

grabbed one - i figure if its too big, then http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html…nkw=dunlop+dvp1xl&_sop=15

he also has ab every profile ever made.

Don't forget the bad sounding ones too. For that pokemon completionist complex I have

I think the big take away is that the profiles really do capture the subtle goodness of the amp, which also applies to a Mark 2 and really the entire Mark series, which is that the notes have this vowel-y bloom to them, and palm mutes have a perfect balance of chug and djenty crunch, not just on the low notes but even on the thin strings.
At least thats what i love about the amps and my favorite profiles of these amps.
-
oh and the clean is really good too. Great super clean tone - kinda scooped to get that modern sound, but not overdone. The chorus is dialed in just right too.
-
jimi, just tried the jp crunches and they are both very good. I did add a little gain to get them where i wanted (5.5 -> 6.5), but i agree that where they are dialed in does sound like the tone on the latest album.
The eq is more balanced. Maybe some ppl will want to make small BMTP tweaks, but theres no need for an Eq effect. I found them very good without tweaking.
I also tried applying that pre-eq/eq boost mentioned in an earlier post and it takes them into that mark iv, chuggy goodness.
These two sounds are different than the JP lead 1 profile, even after gain leveling and a meager effort to make the eq about the same. So its more variety in that ballpark, exactly what i wanted. And JP lead 1 is definitely one of, if not the, best JP lead tones available.
Upgrading my recommedation to must buy for any JP fans
