Just to say that I tested the latest GR Studio Mark V profiles in the RE (the ones posted in september 2016), and holy cr@p, they are very impressive !! The Best MarkV profiles available !! check them out !! He definitely improved his profiling skills and reached the excellence. Kudos @GRStudios !! Thumbs up
What is your direct output setting? Mine had for some reason been switched over to Git Studio (should be Git Analog), and that made my profiles come out with too much gain.
Just to compare whithout tweaking you can make a directory in the RM (I called my Test) and copy the Rigs you want to check in this directory. So its easy to check more than one.
What Loadbox are you using? It seems that cab interaction makes profiles sound not accurate. I've found that if I have both speakers outputs connected (with the Kemper DI between one of them and the cab) profiles sound awful, not usable at all. But if using just one speaker output (leaving the second speaker disconnected) profiles sound much better. Still, NOTHING to do with the Randalls: profiles lack gain, punch, and palm mutes have nothing to do with the Randall chainsaw.
I had faith in using the profiler live... but no way, my Randall heads win all the time.
I'm using a THD Hotplate. This method worked for me on this particular amp. I usually do it like it's described in then manual.
I had a difficult time trying to DA profile my Mark V:25. This was my setup: Guitar -> Kemper -> Mesa + Cab -> Mesa Second Speaker out -> DI box -> XLR Return. Didn't work. DA profiles was loose and undefined.
New setup: Guitar -> Kemper -> Mesa + Loadbox -> Mesa Second Speaker out -> DI box -> XLR Return -> Kemper Speaker Output -> Cab. Profiles are now spot on. And I can A/B through the same cab when I refine the profile. You can download them from RE.
once again you,ve given us some excellent profiles. Im referring to the Boogie profiles you recently put on R.E. these are right up there w the best clean to pushed Fender profiles.. My Strat sounds amazing w these profiles... Im usually not a Boogie fan but these work really well for clean to o.d.
Don't spend too much time on every profile. I go through them pretty fast, and the ones I like I copy over to my Kemper. Then I take a break for one or two hours. When I come back I do it again with the profiles I copied over to my Kemper. Usually I end up with 2 or 3 profiles that I like. Edit them if necessary. Done. I use studio monitors for monitoring.
I've grabbed every profile from GRStudios that I've found on rig exchange. All great but IMO the Mark V:25 profiles are outstanding. Keep it up GRStudios. Looking forward to whatever else you come out with.
Done ... Just uploaded two AC30/G12M profiles with different gain settings. It's not a world between the G12H and the G12M , but you can hear the different color in the midrange. I switched back and forth between this profile and MBritts AC15/Matchless/Morgan tones (which are excellent and used by me all the time). They are a nice addition to Michaels smooth profiles. (e.g. doubling a track) Feel I still need to put some more work in it though... Thanks again for your feedback.
The GRStudios Mark V profiles are pretty awesome. I've been messing with them at home for a while but finally had a chance to use them at rehearsal and they sound great.
Thanx man I'm building a new home studio right now, so new Mark V profiles are coming up.
By the way, does anybody have the Erlend Krauser Tube Thomsen profile that was used at least on one of the older videos? The link from 2014 seems to be dead.
