At least with SPDIF one can again have the space in 2.3.1 (didn't check other outputs yet). But to my ears it sounds more "mono" and "phasey" than it used to. Or am I losing it; anyone else noticed or know about any changes?

I don't know if you guys care for clips ... but I had an old intro riffing idea laying around, and I decided to test how these profiles blend together (had to "mix" a bit here and there). This makes use of "chimey clean", "scorched earth" and "speedball lead". And wastes 30 s of your life, if you so choose

Just bought these! Is there a boost pedal baked in (some of) the profiles? Can you elaborate on the signal chain a bit?
EDIT: oh, the youtube video seems to contain the info I was after http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6T8R3DbZqc

Very entertaining! Now back to my KPA ....
-
With 2.3, I encountered this behavior as well.

These are once again absolutely great profiles, thank you for sharing Sinmix! The first profile I loaded in KPA was already so awesome that I spent three straight hours rocking out with it I have not even checked the rest yet
In general, I like the fact that you include unboosted profiles in these packs because then there is more room for tweaking.

What is the purpose of the two monitors? And I mean the Dells

The systematic mixing guide has always made me happy basswise http://www.ultimatemetal.com/f…ial-systematic-style.html

This is a great idea! I am not too familiar with many of these subgenres, but I would like to understand how these "muddy" and "ugly" tones are created
Does it require certain pickups, stomps, amps, cabs, mics etc? If these sounds are based on the usual stuff (say, emg-81, boss hm-2, 5150 ...) then it might be possible to tweak some of the existing rigs. No?
Edit: oh, tweaking mentioned in the OP. Apparently I didn't read it properly

Thanks for the profiles! I have never played a real Diezel amp in my life ... Here is a small clip of a heavily edited "Diezel Herbert_2+ TS" with one of Lasse Lammert's cabs: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.…3919/diezel-rig-tweak.mp3
First 3 secs is the original rig and everything is at most dual-tracked. My point here is that even if I feel that a rig is not suitable for me directly, I can always try to tweak it to my taste. This is what I personally love about the KPA and ALL the profiles on the rig exchange!

I remember reading somewhere that the KPA powerhead is "as loud as a 100-watt tube head" (can't find the correct thread right now, if it ever existed...). This doesn't necessarily mean that a 100-watt speaker would be ok though, but that number was given as a guideline for choosing a suitable cab. Or am I being misinformed here?
If the unfortunate event of the OP was exclusively due to a small wattage number of the speaker, then I would like to understand what is the minimum safe value. For instance, I have a 4x12 cab that is rated 240 W at 8 Ohms; is it safe to run the powerhead as loud as, say, the Peavey 6505 head I used to have (which was insanely loud already when the master vol was 3-4 or something like that)? I.e., should I trust my ears only or is there something else that comes into play? I got the impression that the OP tried to be careful in selecting the appropriate volume level.
Another scenario that comes to mind is that one might be forced to couple the powerhead to whatever cabinet there is on a, say, smallish venue for monitoring purposes. How to make sure that nothing explodes in such a case?

Has anyone tested this one yet? I am on a Mac so I can't do that.

This sounds awesome! I like.

Great profiles indeed! Very interesting that a Harley Benton cab was used :O
This funny because at some point I had Bugera 6260 head w/ HB v30 2x12 cab, and then I "upgraded" to Peavey 6505 head w/ Mesa OS recto 4x12 cab. When miked up (with say sm57) they sound quite similar I guess, although I didn't have the chance to profile them or compare them side by side. With the Kemper it is so much fun to compare different amps/cabs etc with the push of a button

The strings nor the pick are not touching the pickup, there is plenty of space in between. But I do pick in about 45 degree angle and hit the strings hard. Part of my sound comes from the pick scratching the strings more than usual I guess.
But this is besides the point here; I am still trying to understand how to deal with the initial "snap" I get when I start playing.
-
Now it should be public enough ... Thanks for pointing it out!
-
I just want to clarify that with my picking style, I get the "snap" sound very often. Here is a video showing how it happens with the BOMBED! profile:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyAAD_JDIGUThis is the corresponding waveform:

Hey that's a wild idea ... I tested with cab vol +12dB and rig vol to -12 dB simultaneously to compensate: the spikes are indeed in line with "regular" continuous playing and no more red lights in the output What to conclude here?
-
So the cure for the "snap" sounds (associated with the output going red and the waveforms being unexpectedly spiky) is simply to lower the rig volume?
