Oh yeah, the wood warms it up and helps with a more organic tone.
I'm in CA and may be at the LA Amp Show. They're welcome to display it... and sell it. I did send them a message on Facebook in case they wanted to show it off on their site but didn't hear back.

Wow, amazing box! Congratulations, love it.
You should seriously consider getting in contact with Kemper and try to get a spare front panel (the metal sheet) for a reasonable price so you can give it a nice wood airbrush or a nice black leather cover. Given the quality of your beautiful box, Kemper might be willing to help you to make it the most perfect and amazing Profiler on this planet? Maybe arrange a deal that you give them a few pictures of the finished work?
I'm sure it would be worth it!
That's a very cool idea. Wish the front panel would accommodate a veneer. I have the ability to do intricately carved face plates using a CNC.

Thanks guys! Glad you like it.

I made one of these for my own use previously and had some beautiful figured Walnut that was glued up for another project that was cancelled so decided to make another head shell format cabinet for the Kemper Rack, so here's some Kemper cab eye candy.

Hey man, I really liked that.
May your friend and his loved ones find peace and comfort.
Thank you!

I know what you mean, and yes, maybe I was expecting something like a ballad but it's great how it has turned out.
Sorry this wasn't meant to sound negative in any way.I didn't take it negatively at all and suspected you may have anticipated a ballad.
-
Thank you, Armin!
TBH I expected something different hearing your story.
But hey, this sounds really huge.
Rock'n'Roll!I'm not sure what you were expecting, but I did start out trying to force a ballad but it just wasn't inspired, then remembered that Ron was a hard rocker at heart so this is what came out.

Awesome Bob! Loved the main melody line and you've got the KPA sounding great!
Thank you sir.

Sounds great!

All Kemper (bass and guitar) - recorded this the other day after attending a friends memorial service.

the Profiler is designed for the road. we use a sturdy metal housing and circuitry and components are designed to handle shock. i guess more shock than a tube amp can take. so don't worry, a placement on top of a speaker is totally fine.
more info on LED related issues can be found in this thread: Kemper dead LED - whats next?
hope that helps, gsThis helps immensely. Thank you sir.
-
And it is really not a "head/top" it should not sit on top of the cabinets, that shake loose parts and fry LEDs for sure. It should be treated as rack gear no matter if it is a lunchbox or a rack edition.
I would like to see this confirmed or denied by a representative of Kemper because if this is true, it is a serious design flaw considering it is effectively a guitar head replacement of sorts.
Who can speak authoritatively to the validity of this claim?
Thank you in advance.

I think I'm going to wait for 1.3 also and then pull the trigger on an FCB and the firmware chip. I like simplicity.
-
Very nice piece of work Bob! How do you keep the Profiler against the front panel?
I'm not sure I understand what you mean, however, the top panel is attached to brackets behind it and the Kemper is also attached to brackets with machine screws on either side, just like it would be if mounted into a rack.

Beautiful !
I noticed you used a Bogner handle ?Thanks everyone, appreciate the kind words.
Thank you.
As far as I'm aware, Bogner doesn't make handles, they buy them from a vendor. This is, however, similar or possibly the same as the handles Bogner (and others) uses.

wow!
that's some intensely figured wood - flamed maple?
Yes, flamed (or more accurately, "curly" Maple) and the face plate is quilted Maple.
-
Thank you gents, very much appreciated. I may end up making myself a matching FRFR cab eventually.
-
I wanted to be able to use it just like a head... and made this.

Always good to hear this type of report.
