    LOL

My point is that the Profiler can't include every and each requested feature :D

Ah ok, I thought you were truly dreaming about dark power :P

I obviously see your point, and the reason I bring this up is from a workflow perspective. I am more used to tweaking sounds (including guitar) in my DAW than on the profiler, and I could not do without a multiband compressor. But the profiler will be just as capable without this functionality.

I take all the blame for this video. The rig is based on Andy's (free profile) =A-MS67Darkmatter2

    Happy Holidays! :D

A powerful tool indeed. I wonder if it's a bit oversized for pure guitar use. The Profiler is not a production tool, is a guitar amp! These processings have their home in the production room IMO.

Mm yes that might be how it has been traditionally. However the KPA is everything but traditional and it already gives us some insanely powerful tools not typical to guitar processors - I don't see how this one this one would be oversized.

Although I am obviously clueless, I wild guess would be that some of the magic juice in the amplifier section parameters come from multiband compression. Though it's been simplified for us guitarist [who are notoriously known for limited brain capacity ;) ]

More power to the people

Hi - is it possible to control the frequency range of the compressor stomp? For example let's say I only want to compress the 250-750 Hz region and leave the rest of the signal intact.

I haven't found a away to do this, so my suggestion would be to either add frequency range to the compressor stomp, or even better add a multiband compressor effect to free stomp slots.

Not only would this provide yet a powerful sound shaping tool, but more importantly it would allow me to use the lessons learned from mixing when tweaking the KPA.

    I hope someone agrees! :D

I have played around with the high gain ones using a strat with noiseless single coils. Very cool, lots of sustain and fatness without too much audible distortion, and character and attack is well preserved even when I turn gain up. To make them more usable for recording I will have to work some more eq'ing out low frequencies as you said.

    Thanks a million Ingolf!

    Cool to get some replies!

I often find you don't get really get to know peoples' opinions by asking, which is why I thought of this possible tweak.

But how would the use be determined?
How often I have called up a certain rig in my profiler since my last connection to the RE?
Or how long I have spent time with a certain rig?

I doubt this is really feasible.

That's a neat idea Ingolf. The time spent with a rig could affect weight as well.

However I am not sure going too complex is motivated for 5000+ rigs "only". After all, manual ranking is still perfectly possible (with a slight initial backlog) - and this usually gives better results provided the right people are chosen for the task. And I must say Mr Kemper and his team seem to have no problems finding good people

Perhaps the ranking algorithm in Rig Exchange could be improved by using favourite data from users (instead of relying solely on votes).

Also, if a profile gets moved from Rig Exchange to MyProfiler, it could be yet a "weight" factor for the algo.

After installation Rig Manager would first ask if the user agrees to send anonymous data to improve the Rig Exchange. I am sure most people would agree to this, as it requires much less effort than rating rigs, and we don't store sensitive personal data on the unit.

It would be awesome if it were easier to find the best stuff in the Rig Exchange!

As a fellow Swede and happy KB profiles user I felt the need to chime in. (btw I chose my own username long before this incident)

Regardless of ethical aspects, KB’s profiles are highly useful.

Regardless of any forthcoming verdicts, we should keep treating all users with respect.

If I were to guess, KB’s method of profiling somehow involves taking inspiration from existing profiles (maybe somehow even using other profiles as starting templates?). And considering his results, this might be actually be a good strategy? However as has been hinted by other users, there might be a need to define exactly what amount of ‘inspiration’ is ok for the rig exchange.

It seems that he might have included at least 2 profiles which should not have been uploaded in their current state. Now at the speed KB is delivering profiles, I am not sure I would blame him.

And if I were KB, I would certainly feel a bit intimidated by the way this thread has developed.

I am hoping we’ll see more profiles from both KB and Lasse (and heck I should start profiling as well) - and a positive development of this thread in good spirit!
