Now back to some GTA 5 that was finally released for PC!!
I recently built a $3500 4K SLI system for it and it is amazing..........just like the KPA!I know what you mean. I have a HP "Super Computer" that I used to use for my video editing business. Now it s dedicated to kick a** session of Elder Scrolls Online. AMAZING GAME!!!

Dude, I like you @lasvideo, but you've got to see that you invoked that reaction by mentioning Fractal in the first place! Noone was talking about them until you brought them up... Oh well.
Chavs,
SamLOL. You are right sambrox...mea culpa ; )
Its a shame that a valid point of comparison as to how 2 different companies currently respond to enthusiastic software development tends to be percieved as a red flag to a bull.
-
-
Interesting side note.
An enthusiastic user of Axe Fx decided to develop software to allow the editing of parameters and display for for the MFC controller. Other users applauded and supported his efforts.
Such a great job was done Fractal ended up endorsing, purchasing and selling the software. An interesting contrast to the Kemper approach to a similar situation.

Since ease of use has been mentioned as a motivation for buying the Kemper FC instead of other generic FCs, I felt compelled to say that using the FCB 1010 with the Eureka Prom 2 chip has given me great control of many of the Kemper functions AND has been very easy to use with virtually no midi programming or futzing on my part. Of course it doesnt have a looper which is fine by me. ; )
-
I wonder how much your self admitted bias to the Kemper is influencing your "objective" tests and comparisons of both units ; )
Maybe your brother has some thoughts on this : )
-
Here we go. I knew the fruitcakes would eventually show up. ; )
Time to avoid checking out this thread anymore.

You folks are to be commended for doing this on your own. It looks very functional.
But in all honesty, I really prefer the look of the one Everglades Audio did. Its to bad you cant get him to donate his work as a big jumping off point for your updates and enhancements.

I just tried this out on one of the Marshal presets mentioned above.
At full volume on my Ernie Ball Majesty I get a thick dirty sound.
When I drop the volume it cleans up quite a bit.
-
Ok I will test and record that tomorrow!
So, which firmware version are you using?
-
Don't you think that it's a better idea to create a new unique sound only for the specific poweramp/cab you are using? We could try to use those presets if you want to but i'm not sure that they will work on my brothers Axefx2. He hasn't got the XL model.
Nope. As with Michael Britts profiles on the Kemper, these Yek presets on the Axe Fx sound so good that most of the time I dont need to change a thing. And thru my CLR FRFR speaker they really rock! ; )
-
When I use the Axe Fx XL I dont spend ANY time dialing in presets. A very active creative member named Yek (who maintains the Wiki) has created a file of clean/dirty amp/cab presets with minimal if any effects added (maybe a touch of reverb ).

Hi fellow guitar nerds!
Me and my brother did a quick Kemper vs Axefx2 shootout through a cheap solidstate amp and a mic'd up cabinet.
Chain: Esp ldt with SD JB's-->Axefx2/Kemper-->loop return cheap chinese solidstate amp--->cheap chinese cabinet--->sm57 (sneap position..kind of )

00-19 = Axefx2 5150.
20-37= Kemper 5634+.(deadlight studios: "Peavey 6534+ 1960 C" with cab turned off)
38-56= Axefx2 TS-5150.
57-1.15= Kemper TS-5634+.(deadlight studios: "Peavey 6534+ 1960 F" with cab turned off)
1.16-1.33= Axefx2 5153red100.
1.34-1.52= Kemper 5153 50w.(deadlight studios: "EVH 5150 III F4" with cab turned off)The audio quality isn't great but to my ears the kemper sounds a little more smooth and crunchy while the axefx2 sounds more harsh and compressed but the differences is not that big in my opinion. Both units sound great and play great IMO.
What do you guys think? Was the Axe running the latest FW 18? The new G3 modeling is a dramatic improvement on previous FW. If not, its not an accurate comparison of the current capabilities of these 2 great pieces of equipment ; )

Thank you. Excellent info!
It reaffirms that I have little need for the options 3.0 provides (I only use FRFR speaker and dont need the foot controller). And with 3000+ wonderful profiles I will opt to curtail any more profile purchases and maybe just stay with 2.7.4 ( if it aint broke, why fix it).
I mean, how many amps do I really need... ; )

My urologist said he knew a "secret" way for most folks to avoid having kidney stones....
He said by drinking 8 oz. of water before bedtime you keep the urinary tract hydrated. I do this and havent had any in 15 years. : )

I watched a rig rundown with Petrucci in the studio with his amps and stuff. He had some bass rolled out of his amps (not sure if that is because he has a big 'v' on his graphic eq). Everything from cables and pickups to speakers can have a pretty big effect, so it's hard to make a total one-size-fits-all profile without tweaking. I hope you can get some good tones after some knob twisting.
I have been having fun doing profiles this past week and I can't wait to test some out on the road soon. I got a Roland Jazz Chorus, a '65 Champ, Polytone Mini-Brute III, '62 brownface Deluxe, Silvertone 1484, and an old Music Man 212. The Champ is like Joe Walsh in a box and the JC50 sounds like so many of my favorite guitar sounds in the 80's that it's just crazy. I also recently picked up a '67 Selmer Treble and Bass 50 as well as a '65 Vox AC50 to profile, hopefully next week. I'm getting a bit overloaded with options for the live show, but it sure is fun. I can easily see the Champ and JC50 making the cut. And if the Selmer profiles as good as it sounds here in my office, it should be great, too. I'm looking forward to hearing the AC50 this week when it arrives.
As for now, I'm just sitting at home waiting for a kidney stone to pass. I was at ER last night briefly while they tried to figure out why I was in so much pain. I don't recommend getting a kidney stone, but I'm glad I was in Nashville and not on the road somewhere.
Been there....done that....paced for hours and moaned in the most intense pain I have ever experienced. I wish you a speedy passing......
