welcome from hamburg, germany

You should praise your drummer.
I played mostly with drummer which didn't have so much interests for electronic gear.oh yes, i do... actually it was his idea
-
-
it's a lot of soldering... i am a lucky guy, that 'my drummer' is very good at that kind of stuff and he made 80% of that job... okay maybe 95%... or 98...
the powercon stuff has to be done by an electrician - insurance-wise
it took about 6hours all together... including the rearrangement of some of the plugs and i built a few "battle tested" guitar cables!
but it's totally worth it!
-
this is the final version of the patchbays... i will provide some "connected" pics as well - but i don't have any of them with me...
-
i decided to build the patchbay just for comfort reasons
on the front i have easy and fast access to the main in- and outputs:
direct out (from kemper) midi in (to kemper) speakON out L+R (from poweramp), XLR main out L+R (from kemper), powercon out+inso i don't have to open the back of the case to use my kemper at rehearsal, on stage, or during recordings...
the patchbay on the back doesn't make THAT much sense but is a little more comfortable than to connect directly to the kemper or the poweramp as well
it contains my not that often used ins and outs:
-another power out
-cab out (from poweramp)
-return in XLR and TRS (to kemper)
-spdif in+out (kemper)
-midi out (kemper)
-monitor out (kemper)pics will follow
-
alright, i'll send some more specific pics later.
i use a gator gr6-s rack and another 2 racks of the same type with 4 and 2 units.
in my "kemper-rack" i have installed the following:
front:
-tuner/racklight (1u)
-kemper (3u)
-palmer macht power amp
-patchbay I (1u, i'll upload some detailed pics)rear:
-wireless guitar unit (1u)
-patchbay II (1u,pics will follow)
-power supply (1u)there is not much space behind the kemper but i had the larger, i.e. deeper version (6u)of the gator rack before and that sucked: much more space but no good balance on a cab f.e. so i decided to return to the smaller version (6u)
the racklight and the wirelss are fixed on opposite sites so that it works perfectly
on the opposite site of the kpa there is enough space for the power supply, etc -
alright. here we go. it just took a few more hours - sorry for that...
-
-
no problem. i'll take a pic... guess i'll be home in around 5hours
-
Time for a Kemper 3 thread methinks.
-
i would have never thought that, but it weighs 17kg
-
welcome! always good to hear from people who know both axe and kemper that the tone of the kpa is so much better. i never had the chance to try out both or even A/B them.
-
Ingolf: yep!
-
every time i lift my rack i am surprised how lightweight it actually is
i'll get back to you as soon as i know the exact weight! -
i just changed from 4 to 6u, essentials imo are
-power conditioner (on the back)
-wireless (on the back)
-racklights
but i really like the patch bay as well the one on the front is for everyday use and quick access, another one on the back has all the ins & outs of the kpa and the palmer macht...
i use a gator rack which is pretty light weight and i use the s(small) version which fits better to the cab compared to the l(large) one -
welcome. i converted from 11r too
-
if i was looking for a vh4-profile i would give it a try. i guess lasse's work is totally worth the price.
by the way the amp costs 3k? okay, it's just one out of 4 channels, that would be 750€, you can tweak it if you want to, so there's still plenty of chances that it works for you. i agree that a youtube video is not the best try-before-buy-option but this should be the only thing to argue about. there are many things in life we buy without knowing if they're really worth their price and we are not able to return'em.
maybe we are all a little spoiled by the abundant supply of profiles that one easily forgets about the saving of time AND money.
so, to all you busy profilers out there:
thanks a lot. i really appreciate your work! -
there will be better times! all the best!
