I have this same problem. I think the problem is that SP-1 has a latching switch and you would need a momentary switch with Kemper. It is a shame that you can't choose in Kemper whether to use latching or momentary.

Would be a lot easier imo.

A/M Audio Profile's EVH 5150 III is one of my favourites. High gain and heavy, but not über-scooped and fizzy.
If I may make a request, it would be great if you made the upcoming Mesa IV also as merged profiles and with a Mesa 4x12.

By the way, does anybody else's clock on Kemper go slow? Mine is like a minute behind in a week or so.

No Bonamassa profiles
I think Bonamassa used EV12 L speakers and Sennheiser MD421's mics with his Jubilee so I'm not sure if even the "right" settings would help given how much impact a speaker and a microphone has to the sound.

@sambrox that's s great idea. I'll have to give it a run tomorrow.

...would be swell.

SLO Profiles now on..
I might re-do this, but I think I got too much ear fatigue.. so if it plain sucks, then I'd accept that : )Head to forum and download them!
(My forum, under IN SESSION)Perhaps a closed back cab would work better for Soldano. At least for the gainier sounds? The metal profiles sound quite thin in the bass, lack a little bit of omph, at leat in my opinion.
Anyway, thanks for these!

Some ear buds are (almost) soundproof in my experience - YMMV.
If I remember correctly from my school days, absorbing a sound wave completely, requires at least same length of absorbing material that is the length of the sound wave. Open A string on a bass guitar (55Hz) has a wave length of over 6 meters, so in theory, full absorption with ear buds is impossible at least with low frequencies.
Plus even if you hot glued your ear canals shut, the sound would be conducted via your skull bones. My apologies for my nit-picking. -
We have to remember that this iem mix wasn't everything that he was hearing. In the live situation you hear the iem mix + what ever is leaking through the ear buds: ie. the drums, bass amp, p.a. etc.

I can never understand what it means "metal sounding" ? really no offence same amp used by many of people and in sinmix hands sounds too metal? Maybe again lets check my cab list and speakers? yes more of them with V30 yes i love sm57, yes some of them are boosted, but also many of cleans crunch without boost included. I think people just think: brighter = metal darker = vintage There is many of amps sounding great in rock and metal style at the same time - even mesa dr or 5150. Just give me a good song no matter rock or black metal and i can do good IMO mix with Friedman
Stay Metal!
I'm glad that you didn't take my comment as an offense. I can't quite put my finger on the reason why your profiles sound metal to me. I think that there is more to it than just the brightness or darkness that makes the sound. And I don't think it is about the V30 or the sm57 either. A lots of different sounding music has been made with those. On the other hand, I have found that sometimes a bright sound that sits well in a studio mix, will rip your head off when played with a band with a PA blasting 105dB.

I've been sitting on the fence about purchasing the Sinmix Friedman profiles. They seem to sound a little too "metal" for my taste.

It would nice to have an option to eq the cabinet without affecting the cab-less monitor out signal.
-
The plug-in is easy to point out: find out which two sound the most alike and then the third one is the plug in.
-
@lonestargtr, it was great that you took the plunge into high gain amps with the Driftwood. It would be nice to see some other high gainers in the future.
Merged profiles would also be great. -
I have had the problem with the disabled cab messing up the sound with some impulse resposes that I have converted with the Cab Maker.
-
I hanen't done any merged profiles yet, but if I have understood right, merged profile is a studio profile and a direct profile of the same exact setup put together. So the cab part is a studio profile minus the direct profile. Am I right?
Some people say that a merged profile doesn't sound the same as the studio profile. My question is, does the merging process somehow mess up also the direct profile part of the merged profile, or is it only the cab part of the merged profile that ends up being different?
The reason I'm asking this is because I'm using guitar cab with KPA and I was wondering does it make a difference whether I'm using a direct profile or a merged profile (with cab disabled from the monitor out of course).

I'm little worried about the knobs sticking out from the kemper rack. One solution would be to build a rack with recessed rack strips, but I would like to know is there some kind of protection guards that you could attach with rack skrews? Something like in the picture but with mounting with rack skrews.

I quess this test shows how much the cab, speaker and the micing have to do with the sound.

Just to make things clear, are these Kemper direct profiles and one or more "real" amps?
