+1 on a (good) shimmer reverb. Maybe not prio no.1 though

Hi everyone,
I would like to share my amazing experience that I had with the KPA today.
I've been having my KPA for a few month now, but due to a bunch of reasons, I did yet not have had the time to dig into it deeper. Until today. First I have to say that I own two electric guitars (not a collector^^). I have one cheap but solid Ibanez, I consider her a "grap & go" guitar, that I would take to my latest or my future girlfriend, to my parents' house, you name it. I tried the KPA with this guitar and the result was... hm... somewhere about ok, but far from what I heard the KPA can sound like. And because of all those great clips, I thought my KPA might be faulty. But today - for the first time - I plugged my trusty Strat with Dimarzios into the green machine and: Bääm!
Suddenly it was all there. The juice, the chunk, the spirit, the feel... So I went through all my (well, not all yet) profiles, and I was floored. What an amazing thing this KPA is. Might sound funny to some since most of you have had this experience allready, but I can now say:
Yes, the KPA is nothing less than an universe of amps!
I'm still a bit surprised though about how picky it is with guitars, but in the end I think this is a good thing. And I'm confident that I will find more than useful setting for the RG as well.
Nice day to all
A happy happy KPA user. -
It seems to me, that what would be in line with the concept of the Profiler would be a convolution reverb (like Altiverb, Space Designer, Waves IR, etc.), so you could load your own impulses, including springs and plates. And a fancy tremolo or vibrato that you could put before or after the reverb to get those cool Supro tones. By the way, not too many Supros on the Rig Exchange, eh? I think I'll make some.
Great idea! Could imagine, this is what they're after. And the sound of those reverbs in my DAW do sound great.

Hello from Europe! Big small KPA-World

Technical difficulties? Here are some .... from one of the best guitar players exept guido
Brilliant, thought of this while typing . Nevertheless, THESE technical difficulties Guido can only solve by giving me lessons^^.
-
After some technical difficulties I got 'em all now, too. Thx Guido for support.
To me a handful of good profiles for a reasonable price works better than billions to choose from.
Looking forward to buying some more great profiles from you guys in the future.
I personally would like to see a great 7ender '65 and '57. -

XLN Audio has a free to use (without time limit) demo of Addictive Drums:
Steven Slate Drums can't be beaten at that pricepoint:

I mailed K-Team before buying a few month ago, because of the same concerns. They (re)assured me that (as others have posted) the device will be actual for a proper amount of time...
So go for it , it's green!
EDIT: lol just saw the date of the OP...

These look great! So each of them would be powered by the KPA itself? The sizes of the smaller ones just seem to be what I was looking for.
Kind regards

Different use cases, that's all.
Overall, i much prefer to play over an active FRFR.
But sometimes I want to be able to drive my conventional guitar cab, if only for to hear how a rig sounds over my Greenback.Makes sense
-
You're right. That said, in active speakers like the active CLR its poweramp fits the speaker like a glove and is often the most preferred option (albeit more expensive).
I'm mainly using active FRFR speakers (DXR 10 and CLR) although I own 2 powered profilers.Ingolf, just out of curiosity: Why would one pay for a (two) powered KPA then?
-
Should I get the passive or active since I got the powered head?
Passive. Active means nothing else than "powered." (Don't know if there are active speakers where the poweramp can be turned of though.)
-
Slowly I am getting a bit nervous, if my KPA could sound better, too.
Though I have not found the time yet to dig into it deeper (shame on me, but KPA has to be paid^^), I wonder if it should'nt sound better by default...
What I mean by that is that I am not as close to the Youtube sounds as I think I should be. Still don't want to blame the KPA yet since I have to do way more testing. But what you report here, is something the K-Team should say something to, I think. And you are not the first one. See the thread where they ask for a selfcheck of the device.Maybe try the tip from Danne69 and report back? I am watching this and other threads regarding the issue of different KPAs sounding differently with a lot of interest.

Hi,
the idea is cool, but I haven't tried it yet.
Just a thought: To do so, you'd need to take the amp inside the KPA all the way down or even out of the signal chain so it doesn't affect the sound. Is this even possible?
Out of curiosity: Which preamp would you like to use for that scenario?
